Babylon Lyrics
Foresee the day of the Lord
The Heavens blacken above them
The day will bring no light
For I will shake the heavens
Raise the flag on the hilltop
For now we march to Babylon
Say a prayer for the fallen
It's time to choose which side you are on
Hear the noise on the mountain
From the furthest horizon
Pick up the pieces as they fall
Our sins wont carry our burdens
So will you leave them behind?
While I've been held behind these walls
Will I be left or forgotten?
They run like the hunted
For now we march to Babylon
In the darkest of days
The mighty failure has gone
Most glorious of all kingdoms
Will fall like a stone
From the Heavens
Pick up the pieces as they fall
Our sins won't carry our burdens
While I've been held behind these walls
Will I be left or forgotten?
Foresee the day of the Lord
The Heavens blacken above them
The day will bring no light
For I will shake the heavens
The Heavens blacken above them
The day will bring no light
For I will shake the heavens
For now we march to Babylon
Say a prayer for the fallen
It's time to choose which side you are on
From the furthest horizon
Our sins wont carry our burdens
So will you leave them behind?
While I've been held behind these walls
Will I be left or forgotten?
For now we march to Babylon
In the darkest of days
The mighty failure has gone
Will fall like a stone
From the Heavens
Our sins won't carry our burdens
While I've been held behind these walls
Will I be left or forgotten?
The Heavens blacken above them
The day will bring no light
For I will shake the heavens

I think this song is pretty explicit in its meaning, and also one of the more vocally and lyrically powerful songs on the new album, I'm shocked no one else has commented you guys should really buy the album so you hear other songs besides the single. I speculate that this song is actually tied in with the name of the band, citing the day of the Lord being the day from Haste the Day the name. Just a thought, but is definitely an apocalyptic type song.
Close on all of you. It's about the wicked city of Babylon falling to the wrath of God. It sounds apocalyptic because when God letting lose his wrath is extremely similar in appearence to the world ending. I also believe it is a metaphor using Babylon for wickedness/evil and God vanquishing it. Glory to God!
Yeah, sounds apocalyptic. How in the end we will be nothing, the power of Nations will be obsolete.
I am not a biblical scholar or anything but I believe it is from the bible,God destroys Babylon with an earthquake, i.e. "Pick up the pieces"...
