Black Lyrics

The world has broken down
Every stone's been turned around
We feel no fear at all
Not at all

We don't know what's to come
I begin and i'd already begun
And now we have to run
Come on

The last look back is black
The night turns dark ahead
When there's no turning back
We're glad
So glad
No turning back
No turning back

Where have you gone
You made us feel so strong
You lost us and now we are
Alone

It's dark despite the light
Tomorrow's not in sight
And we were born to go
On and on

The last look back is black
The night turns dark ahead
When there's no turning back
We're glad
So glad
No turning back
No turning back

No turning back
Let us run and don't look back
We'll leave behind a burning track
Let us run and don't look back
We'll leave behind a burning track
Come on
Come on!

The last look back is black
The night turns dark ahead
When there's no turning back
We're glad
So glad

The last look back is black
The night turns dark ahead
There's no turning back
We're glad
So glad
No turning back
No turning back

This song is so cool. I think I get most of it except this one verse that doesn't seem to fit "Where have you gone/You made us feel so strong/You lost us and now we are/Alone."

The first verse sounds like maybe he's talking about the band's career. They once said in an interview that, after Zimmer, they'd established their sound and had a clear idea about where they wanted to go for their next album. So in the first couple of verses he says, "The world has broken down/Every stone's been turned around...We don't know what's to come...And now we have to run." It sounds like they've made their mark on the world, established who they are as artists and all that's left now is to move forward in their career even if they don't know exactly what will come in the future. This idea seems to be reinforced in the chorus "The last look back is black/The night turns dark ahead/There's no turning back."

So, looking at the whole picture, I would say this song is about moving forward, not necessarily dwelling on the past and continue to push oneself toward the future. Even if you don't have a clear future, just go for it =)
