Will you listen to my story
It’ll just be a minute
How can I explain
Whatever happened here never meant to hurt you
How can I cause you so much pain
When I say I’m sorry
Will you believe me
Listen to my story
Say you won’t leave me
When I say I’m sorry
Can you forgive me
When I say I will always be there
Will you believe, will you believe in me
All the words that I come up with
They’re like gasoline on flames
There’s no excuse, no explanation
Believe me if I could undo what I did wrong
I’d give away all that I own
When I say I’m sorry
Will you believe me
Listen to my story
Say you won’t leave me
When I say I’m sorry
Can you forgive me
When I say I will always be there
Will you believe
If I told you I’ve been cleanin’ my soul
And If I promise you I’ll regain control
Will you open your door
And let me in take me for who I am
And not for who I’ve been, who I’ve been
When I say I’m sorry
Will you believe me
Listen to my story
Say you won’t leave me
When I say I’m sorry
Can your forgive me
When I say I will always be there
Will you believe me
When I say I’m sorry
When I say I’m sorry
When I say I’m sorry
When I say I’m sorry
When I say I’m sorry
Can you forgive me
When I say I will always be there
Will you believe
It’ll just be a minute
How can I explain
Whatever happened here never meant to hurt you
How can I cause you so much pain
Will you believe me
Listen to my story
Say you won’t leave me

Believe me if I could undo what I did wrong
I’d give away all that I own
Will you believe me
Listen to my story
Say you won’t leave me
When I say I’m sorry
Can you forgive me

wow im the first one to comment! i love this song, its not very famous but to me its their best one. basicaly the song is implying that the guy screwed up. i think he cheated, she found out and broke it off. but im not so sure. to me, it seems like he is talkin to himself trying to figure out how he is going to explain his wrong doings to his girl to ask for her forgiveness. he wonders if she will believe him when he says sorry and he will never leave or hurt her again. "If I told you I've been cleanin my soul And If I promise you I'll regain control Will you open your door And let me in take me for who I am And not for who I've been, who I've been." those lines imply that he has been trying to clean up his act - whether its alcohol, cheating, drugs etc. - he is saying that he screwed up in the past and now he needs her to take him for who he has changed into and not for the old him. great song. needs more comments tho
I agree with guitarbrat5592 and this is a such fantastic, moving song. I love his voice x
Why does everyone talk about the bloody song instead of discussing what the lyrics mean?!?!
I never heard this song before. How sweet to say sorry in a song! I know the feeling of being mean and hurting someone dear. I have done it and still feel really bad. I never meant the mean things I said. I know I said sorry before, but I want to say it again, from the bottom of my heart.
My thoughts... well my story i believe is about a person that for some reason got angry, had a fight and hurt the other "let me in take me for who I am And not for who I've been, who I've been" personally: This song touch and describe a pass event that happen to me; I have known my actual partner for more than two years, and suddenly on a church retire i got really depressed and didn't want to talk about it; so i keep pushing him away and he questioned me why i keep pushing him away because he was trying to help me; he grab my arms more than tight. I fell, and then he realize what he did and started saying sorry, believe me,he never was like that, when i listen to the story (explication) he reacted like that because he was having trouble and anger against his biological father (he is an ass)so he has anger for him; when the song says "If I told you I've been cleanin' my soul" its like he is facing the reality and making his anger go away by talking to him: (his father) so i believe is about that but with words Example "All the words that I come up with They're like gasoline on flames There's no excuse, no explanation Believe me if I could undo what I did wrong I'd give away all that I own" its like he didn't mean all of those he got black and acted that's my point of view of it and i don't think is about man cheating or abusing because if you listen very closely to the song it does not make sense like it says: "take me for who i am and not for who I've been"
