This is such a beautiful song. It conjures up so many vivid images and feelings in so few words. It seems to be about someone who's had many disappointments but still somehow manages to reach the person he's holding out hope for. And I suppose the yellow snake represents the unexpected optimism that results from this welcome turn of events.
