Dracula's Lament Lyrics

It's getting kind of hard to believe,
things are going to get better.

I've been drowning too long to believe,
the tides going to turn.

And I've been living too long to believe,
that things are going to get easier now.

I've been trying to shake off the pain
from the lessons I've learned.

And if I see Van Helsing,
I swear to the Lord I will slay him.
Ah ha ha ha.

He taketh from me,
but I swear I won't let it be so.
Ah ha ha ha.

Blood, will run down his neck,
when he is decapitated.
Ah ha ha ha.

His head on my mantle is how I will let this one go, how much I love you.

Die, die, die,

I can't.

It's about the glimmer of hope that love can bring, which ties into the film. Eternal life has brought this once man melancholy and despair. Why bother any longer to not be slain by a constant tormentor? Why believe that victory would make that existence any easier? Love. Killing Van Hellsing would be choosing to remain alive with all the anguish of that eternal existence. Why do that? Because he loves someone now. Gets me every time. No wonder Peter didn't know it was a comedy.

This is such an awesome song. I cant believe no one has commented on it yet. It seems pretty simple at first, but it really is pretty damn deep and beautiful. I love it.

Oh and i think the meaning of this song is how dracula is misunderstood. All he wants is love but he cant get it and he looks like the bad guy.

I love how the beginning of the song is just so melancholy and beautiful, and it expresses times and emotions that we can all relate to, and then just gets all about dracula. if anyone has seen "interview with a vampire" this song relates to brad pitt's character... except for the van helsing part, i don't think he was in that movie. I love forgetting sarah marshall and this song just makes it that much more of an original movie.

Being alive too long to be optimist. Even with being alive too long, love still hurts. Through the death of the guy that one-upped him, he can almost, almost live with the fact that the love of his life did not choose him.

The line "I've been trying to shake off the pain" should be: "I'm still trying to shake off the pain"

And I also think that the line, "His head on my mantle is how I will let this one go, how much I love you."
Should be: "His head on my mantle is how I will let this world know, how much I love you."

Love this song!
