This Town

New town fit in
dumb it down and hold it in
stare straight ahead and watch your back
see it through to the end
but I don't know what I'm doing here
haven't left this apartment much this year
I spend all my days with books trying to disappear
And all of those girls who tear me down
they seem so nice when I see them around
but maybe they're right and just letting me know
I don't belong in this town
They small-talk you to death
so awfully impressed with their cleverness
well I have nothing nice to say
so I keep these thoughts to myself
But there must be somethin' wrong with me
cause everyone else makes it look so damned easy
