everything that I say to you
will be forgotten by tomorrow
so why do I try to lend you ideas
that you aren’t even able to borrow?

we’re just doing a pose

our faces are painted
our bodies contorted
and every effort we made was completely distorted
by the bright shining lights
right in our eyes
through the loud noises you can make out
the hellos and goodbyes
just greetings and fleeting moments of magnificence in between
seem so defeating when we get home and forget where we’ve been
let’s say everything we want to say
and explain any human in us away
by removing all emotion
we can change our blood
into magic potion
that can bend them all to your will
and then nothing can hurt us or stop us until
someone cries
what a thrill, what a thrill
let’s say everything we want to say
and then we’ll say it in reverse
but we can’t do it like improv
we’ve got to sit down and write the script
so that we can rehearse
that way we never even said anything at all
that way there’s no proof that can make us feel foolish or small
that way
we want it that way.
