there's a couple mistakes, let me point them out it's "a gold heart never rusts" instead of "i'll go hard, never lost"
and "and now we will set this all ablaze" instead of "right now right now see this on the glass"

My guess is that the guy has made up his mind about leaving his wife after discovering shes been cheating on him.

He realizes that, once they became separated, its obvious to him, or he sees the "writing on the wall", that they were never really meant to be and they never got along very well in the first place, and its actually for the better.
I think he wants to step up to her and end the relationship because he knows that she cheated on him...but he can't pull it together too. At the end of the song, he decides not to step up and just try to move on and deal with the relationship even though it still pains him.
