The Calamity Lyrics
You cannot be, you're the mistake: calamity
Sent to destroy all of the
Good On this Earth, killing me
You're killing me
The mother of ruination comes to fuck all
Mutilating everything, spread wide open, beckoning
Beckoning meSpiral faster down
Ripping a hole through the air we breathe
An apocalypse
Encased in a shell, so beautiful
The calamity makes it's way to the inside
I know we are feeling the same thing
The calamity makes it's way to the inside
To eat away at our existence
Spewed from the wound of this life's worst cavity; the
Nightmare spreads it's cancerous lamentations, poisoning
Force-feed the plague
Drunk from the milk of death's overflowing sick tit
Nourishing the misery, gives birth to the ugliness
That grows inside
Spiral faster down
Ripping a hole through the air we breathe
An apocalypse
Encased in a shell, so beautiful
The calamity makes it's way to the inside
I know we are feeling the same thing
The calamity makes it's way to the inside
To eat away at our existence
Isolate
The heart from the brain
Permeate
Inject us with pain
Holding our breath now
We're screaming without sound
We're trembling as everything falls completely apart
Meteor crash down
Come crater our woe out
The banishment of everything once alive will start now
Holding our breath now
We're screaming without sound
The banishment of everything once alive will start now
You came to be, you're the mistake: calamity
Here to destroy all of the good on this Earth, killing all
Killing us all
Spiral faster down
Ripping a hole through the air we breathe
An apocalypse
Encased in a shell, so beautiful
The calamity makes it's way to the inside
I know we are feeling the same thing

sorry, it was late when i did that
I'm referring to the story of Pandora and how Zeus and the other gods and godesses created her, making her exceptionally beautiful and extremely enticing. It is always said that you should beware gifts given by the gods, but Epimetheus, Prometheus's brother, was the "dimmer" of the two brothers and took her anyway.
Upon her marriage with Epimetheus, she discovered the box that epimetheus had that contained all of life's sorrows, terrors and pain. Pandora was given the attribute of curiousity and because of that, she opened the box causing an immense amount of intense emotions and feelings of trepidation, pain, fear, terror, sorrow etc., into the world. She quickly closed it and the only thing left in the box was hope.
The story is the cousin of the Adam and Eve Story, temptation and etc. But Pandora basically caused a calamity on earth, a calamity being a great misfortune or disaster or greivous affliction or misery. Hope that clears things up.
wow, first comment. I really like this song, especially the pre-chorus, god like. anyway, i believe this song is talking about the myth of Pandora, how Epimetheus is tempted by her beauty, and being the dumb of the two brothers ( the other being Prometheus) he thinks not of thinking about the gift from Zeus, who still has his grudge on Prometheus. You know the rest of the story.
Tjwojo: I dont get what you just said....
To me this song is about doing somthing bad that we know is wrong but we just cant stop ourselves from doing it. Human beings as a whole like to do wrong just because they can.
no tjwojo is right the hole shogun album is all about greek myths and such i could also be about sleeping around but its most likly about what tjwojo said

Its like having an affair with a girl, its wrong but you cant help it. Like an addiction.
I just got into Trivium after a friend showed me into this CD. and I have to agree with tjwojo. It even fits the theme, Greek mythology. Such as Scylla and Charybdis, and Prometheus. And I'm pretty sure that the Furies were the Titans, so I suspect that tjwojo has it right.
I think this song is about the antichrist, listening to the lyrics it just kindive fits, It's kindive late and I don't feel like analyzing every line but yeah just kindive think about my theory and look at them
I think this song is about the meteor summoned in Final Fantasy VII, which was referred to as 'The Calamity from the skies' in the game which 'made it's way to the inside' of the planet into the lifestream. The 'shell, so beautiful' could be a reference to Aerith (or Aeris) in game. Who was integral to the plot line and summoning as well as stopping the meteor... and beautiful, of course.
Also, as some will know that Trivium did base a lot of the album's concept on both mythology and video games and the fact that it is known that Matt Heafy is a Final Fantasy fan and general video game fan could concrete my interpretation.
Although, all of this could be coincidence and it could be about something completly different.
