i got to talk to the band and they said this song is basicly about communist love haha. i love it house of heroes is amazing! =]
Oh, I love this song! It's about an American who falls in love with a Commie! They used to call communists "Reds" back in the day.
I had the feeling that this was about communists... kinda obvious with the whole "red" bit and the "hammer and sickle" parts. Also all the russian cities kinda gave that away. But this is kind of a random song. Is/was one of the band members actually in love with a commie or is this just random? Either way it's a good song.
The entire album that this song is on kind of has a WWII theme to it, so I think this was just kind of a fun song that they wrote that fit nicely into the album. And I guess to some extent it can make the point that love can overcome adversity, even love that may be viewed as 'forbidden' by society.
When I first saw the title of this song I thought, "I wonder if it's about communists. . . nah, it can't be about that." Then I just cracked up when I realized that actually was what it is about. This song is great!
It occured to me that maybe it's a metaphor for someone in a relationship with a non-Christian, but eeeeh.
