The song is about being trapped between the proverbial "rock and a hard place," and rather than settling for either of those two options, you forge ahead, carve your own path, overcome the adversity, and become better for doing so.
According to Greek Mythology, Scylla and Charybdis are two sea monsters who are separated by a short expanse of water making it impossible for passing Sailors to navigate between them without encountering at least one of the.

I don't necessarily think the election was what they had in mind when they wrote the song, but I think it sure as hell fits the situation.
I Think This Song's Just General Difficult Decisions... Now the whole album is fucking awesome but this is one of my favourite songs all together, it's a masterpiece imo. =)
This definitly based of a part in the odyssey by Homer. basicaly its telling that the main charchter in the story, Odysseus, is stuck between a whirlpool making monster, Charybdis, and a 12 headed snake beast, Scylla, and he hast to overcome one of them to go on. If You like the story this song tells then i would recommend the book the Odyssey. Good Book, even for a metal fan.

Without a doubt, this song is about Corey. He noticed that hes fat and needs to go on a serious diet. But somehow, he feels confused cause he can't keep a consistent diet. He holds a twinkie and asks himself. "Twinkie? or Diet?". He's totally torn between Scylla and Charybdis. Poor guy
