A Poets Dream Lyrics

Divided into pieces of the sun

I can tell by the color of the sky
You and I, somewhere, divided into pieces of the sun
I fall into the moment understanding why
I try so hard to hold it, but I let it fly, let it fly away

And only the future seems clear to me right now
A foreign objective to be at peace with

On and on
I can't believe the echoes of the falling rain
Time walks away
No matter what we do, we can't erase the walls around the poet's dream

Shiny, broken thoughts that sit alone have lost their way
Handouts all around distort the charity
Waterfalls suspend the air, and birds fly in reverse
Nature misinterprets who she's meant to be
And all in one day

And only the future seems clear to me right now
A foreign objective to be at peace with

On and on
I can't believe the echoes of the falling rain
Time walks away
No matter what we do, we can't erase the walls around the poet's dream

A stolen misconception can't correct what I have seen
To you to me is all a lie, and so I intervene
Without the world's forgiveness, I cannot be brought to life
Forever in the winter, I see summer in the distance
Summer in the whispers of the wind

On and on
I can't believe the echoes of the falling rain
Time walks away
No matter what we do, we can't erase the walls around the poet's dream

On and on
I can't believe the echoes of the falling rain
Time walks away
No matter what we do, we can't erase the walls around the poet's dream

A lot of great imagery in this song. It's a very hard song to interpret because the imagery makes it harder to follow for that same reason.

The first verse is about losing the understanding you once had about something. The repeated line "divided into pieces of the sun" is a reference to a broken relationship. I'm not sure if the narrator's talking about a person relationship or the narrators relationship to poetry, but it's definitely about breaking cuz Ra's references to the sun, while recognizing its power, also emphasizes its isolation and absoluteness.

the bridge is about coming to terms with and accepting unexpected results and fates. the chorus is depressing. I'm pretty sure the "Walls" in the poet's dream are meant to keep both others out and the narrator in. No one helps the poet and the poet can't realize his dreams into reality, which in fact would benefit both the poet and society as a whole.

the second verse seems to be how the trapping of this dream has resulted in a corrupt world. Everyone has alterior motives to their acts of good and people are tricked into believing lies.

The last verse reveals that the poet knows about the corruption and it is in isolation that he has realized this. He ironically asks the world for forgiveness because that's the only way he'll be able to get out of this prison and speak the truth. Though I'm pretty certain that's what got him there in the first place.

Dude, very good analysis. Thanks. You explained some things I was having a hard time describing in words.
