Run To You Lyrics
Tomorrow's taking me away from you like a jealous lover
Kiss me one last time before I go down this broken road I follow
You will leave me torn and sting me like a thorn from a dying rose
The saddest scent of you will cling to me, I know
I will run to you
When my journey's over
Wait for me
Keep our love alive
I will dream of you
'Til I reach the sun
Then I'll turn around
And run to you
If I stay with you and linger here another moment
I would fade into the scenery; you wouldn't even see me
I've got nothing left to offer you, it's not that I don't care
All I ask is that you think of me, I swear
I will run to you
When my journey's over
Wait for me
Keep our love alive
I will dream of you
'Til I reach the sun
Then I'll turn around
And run to you
I hate to see you cry
When you look away
It makes me wanna die
Run to you
Oohh
Wait for me
Keep our love alive
I will dream of you
'Til I reach the sun
Then I'll turn around
And run... to you
Kiss me one last time before I go down this broken road I follow
You will leave me torn and sting me like a thorn from a dying rose
The saddest scent of you will cling to me, I know
When my journey's over
Wait for me
Keep our love alive
I will dream of you
'Til I reach the sun
Then I'll turn around
And run to you
I would fade into the scenery; you wouldn't even see me
I've got nothing left to offer you, it's not that I don't care
All I ask is that you think of me, I swear
When my journey's over
Wait for me
Keep our love alive
I will dream of you
'Til I reach the sun
Then I'll turn around
And run to you
When you look away
It makes me wanna die
Oohh
Wait for me
Keep our love alive
I will dream of you
'Til I reach the sun
Then I'll turn around
And run... to you

This song is quite simply about taking a break in a relationship in the promise that you will return to them because you will always have feelings for them.
He is leaving, metaphorically or not, but will return when the journey is over - perhaps the journey is discovering what he really wants or maybe it's giving himself some time to think.
"If I stay with you and linger here another moment I would fade into the scenery; you wouldn't even see me I've got nothing left to offer you, it's not that I don't care..." He's basically saying that the novelty of the relationship has worn off and he feels invisible to his other half, as she's more preoccupied with other things. He feels as if there isn't a point in staying where he's not really needed at that moment.
"Wait for me, keep our love alive" He still loves her and wants to be with her but they both need some time and space. He doesn't want her to meet anyone else while he is away.
I get the feeling that this song is about Finland. Not about a person, but his native country that he loves and desires.
I believe it's a song about a woman waiting for a man to arrive. He has both the beauty and cover of darkness with which to greet a tiny porch complete with the sound of owls and a stuttering woman...all to make it do-able. He really just needs to bring a good book, a smile, and some wit 'cause she already has the wine. She sings (off key, of course) "Put one foot in front of the other."...'cause once you're there, all the worry disappears. (Does that rhyme? Ah, close enough:) GOOD SONG.
