Ben said at a concert in Kansas City on Oct 22, 2008 that the album version is about (pretty obviously) a guy who doesn't believe he could be at fault for the breakup. The fake version is about a young Republican lawyer. At this point the crowd booed, but Ben assured us that we would feel sorry for him by the end of the song. This young lawyer takes a date he doesn't know very well to the law firm's Christmas party. While there, the date does a line of coke. Within minutes, she starts spilling all her radical, flaming leftist liberal ideologies, ruining the young lawyer's career.
I really like both versions actually.
I wouldn't mind hearing the fake version.
Is it just me, or does the song feel incomplete without the pre-track bit on the album? It took me a good ten minute to realise there was 30 seconds between Free Coffee and Bitch Went Nuts.

Before the release of his Way To Normal Album, Ben and his band recorded fake tracks to the album because they had time to kill. Ben had a friend "leak" the tracks on fan sites under the pretense that those were actual tracks that were to appear on the album. Later the fake tracks were added as b-sides and bonus tracks on the album. Many of the tracks have similar names to the official ones on the album. In his latest tour (I saw him last Saturday) he performed many of the "fake" songs as well as the official ones. :)
