Errant Dog Lyrics
Have you seen that dog?
I've got to get him back
I had him tied to a tree
but he keeps getting out
He's probably running loose with the bitches
And when I catch him I'll give him some stiches
Oh I love him so much, aw, that stupid bitch is mine.
Errant Dog (Woo-oooh!)
Errant Dog
(Uh!)
They're talking down at the spa,
Now the word is out.
God damn I look like a tool,
when he goes running around.
I'm gonna take him on court TV;
Show the world what he's done to me
Oh I'll drag his ass back home, yeah, where that ass belongs
Errant Dog (Woo-oooh!)
Errant Dog
(Uh!)
He's my everything; he means the world to me
He's my hopes, my dreams, my general property
Sometimes I wonder why I put up with this shit
If I could I would become a lesbian
I know I said dead or alive but really,
Dead is fine.
Just bring him back, yeah.
Errant Dog (Woo-oooh)
Errant Dog
I've got to get him back
I had him tied to a tree
but he keeps getting out
And when I catch him I'll give him some stiches
Oh I love him so much, aw, that stupid bitch is mine.

first
its just about how annoyed ben is with girls that complain about their cheating/bad boyfriends, but then take them back
It's "fungible property" not "general property." If property is fungible it means it could be substituted for another similar product and it wouldn't matter.
This song is about a conflict of ownership. The man thinks he owns the dog and the dog believes that he owns the man. The first half is the man and then the second is the dog. The dog takes him to CourtTV to resolve the issue. Ben said something of that nature on Ovation TV. I don't get the lesbian line though. This song reminds me of Ben Folds Five! Great song!!!!
I don't think so, Robert Smith: Homeboy. Seems to me that it's written from a woman's perspective about a cheating boyfriend/husband. He's always a jerk and goes out cheating on her, and she knows that people are gossiping about them behind her back. She thinks it'd be easier if she just became a lesbian, but for some reason she keeps taking him back.
I think it is "I look like a Jewel" not "I look like a Tool".....I actually got on this site becuase i was caught off guard by this line since i thought he was saying "I look like a Jew"
its definitely "fungible" property and he's "my hopes and dreams"
According to Ben at a recent show, this song is about how messed up it is that people could feel like they own a person, in this case a significant other. The dog is a metaphor for the woman's boyfriend who is not necessarily cheating at all, hence:
"I had him tied to a tree but he keeps getting out"
She tried to tie him into the relationship but he didn't want to be in it. He wanted to be free to "run loose with the bitches" but her opinion of the situation was that he was her "fungible property"... "that stupid bitch is mine" she says.
I think errant dog = his dick.
I think errant dog = his dick.
Can't it just be a song about an errant dog? Haven't you guys ever wandered around the neighborhood chasing the dang dog??
This song is absolutely hilarious if you take it completely literally.
