I believe that this song is more of realization than regret. She constantly talks about her resolution and breaking the mold. Its like she's saying her wounds are from feeling like she's been living her life for others and not herself. The part about controlling the fire in her eyes is like saying she's furious about giving so much and being let down so the only recourse is to completely abandon what has controlled her life and stop fighting for something that will not fight with or for her.
