The meaning of this song, is simple,
When your with someone you love, don't take the moment for granted. Cherish every moment, really take the time to love one another.
As for the chorus, you kind of think of older couples, when they were younger, then now, when their the trademark old couple sitting on the front porch in the rocking chair saying, "Do you remember that day...".
If your truly in love with someone, it would be for say your "last first kiss", and to keep the thought of forever in mind, and making your own, history so to speak.

awwwzzzzzz this reminds me of the guy i let slip away... my favorite time was with him when we where at our friends house and we laid under the stars and moon on his porch couch aALL night with out sleeping just me him and the beautiful sky with the moon light dancing on our skin with out a care in the world just as long as we had each other!!! =] when i came home he wrote me on facebook and said, hey boo?? me: Yah??? him: history in the making... me: What??? him: the song,im listening to it and it makes me think of you and what were ganna be... its to you!!!
