Avalanche in B Lyrics
Oh avalanche in apartment B
Everywhere white's what I see
I've never lived alone
So near the ocean breeze
I can finally afford high anxiety
Reach up cold hits air your hands
Snow packs like cement you can't stand
Remain calm while rescue makes plans
Oh avalanche in aparment B
All at once the weight dropped on me
Sweating at the bar, fifteen minutes ago
We we're yelling our heads off
Now I'm surrounded by snow
Reaching up cold hits air your hands
Snow packs like cement you can't stand
Remain calm while rescue makes plans
The earth must contract + expand
Everywhere white's what I see
I've never lived alone
So near the ocean breeze
I can finally afford high anxiety
Snow packs like cement you can't stand
Remain calm while rescue makes plans
All at once the weight dropped on me
Sweating at the bar, fifteen minutes ago
We we're yelling our heads off
Now I'm surrounded by snow
Snow packs like cement you can't stand
Remain calm while rescue makes plans
The earth must contract + expand

I love this song, the vocals and just the feeling I get from it is very nice. Sort of like that melancholic nolstagic feeling you get when you see someone you used to like a lot.
Love this song. It makes me think of freaking out. Anxiety / a weight dropping on you. But, optimistically, remain calm because help is on the way and the life continues.
I think this song is about death. WHITE'S ALL I SEE- when you die you "go into the light," SNOW PACKS LIKE CEMENT I CAN STAND- when you're dead you dont feel like your falling, or being pushed down, like you cant stand up straight, you're downtrodden, REMAIN CALM WHILE RESCUE MAKES PLANS- remain calm while the doctors are working/ or wait until God figures out where you will go (heaven/hell). I'm not quite sure if i'm right, but it sounds good to me. this is an odd song, i was listening to it one day, and my dad walked into my house and asked "who is dying in here?" I was deeply offended, now whenever he comes over i play Cold War Kids's songs i think he'll like!
i think this song is about a person dealing with the anxiety and stress of their life. He's going thru a rough patch in his relationship, so he heads down to the bar to unwind after a huge fight and is strategizing how he could fix it, a recue plan.
I read somewhere that Nathan Willett has said that this song is about simply being lonely. Trapped in the apartment by snow after just recently being surrounded by people (hence 'Sweating at the bar, fifteen minutes ago We we're yelling our heads off') illustrates that subject.
