Kiss Me Lyrics

I read your letter, I read your letter
It said, I love John Lennon forever
And I know you think I’m nuts (think I’m nuts)
But I really hate his guts (hate his guts)
And now you’ve half inched my copy of pet sounds
I think you’ve taken everything from me I’ve had to give

I die for beauty, I die for beauty
Adjusted in the tomb
Until the moss reached our lips,
And covered up our names
Sweet is the swamp with its secrets

So kiss me, kiss me, kiss me
Don’t kiss me, kiss me, kiss me,
Don’t kiss me, kiss me, kiss me
Tonight

Because I’ve never really missed someone (missed someone)
I never really missed someone (missed someone)
I never really missed someone before

And now I’m going to the country, to paint my mail box blue
I’m not going to paint myself on you
I’m going to the city, to dine more
You can make me a palette on your floor
But I won’t stay the night
Cos I, read your letter
About how you love Sergeant Pepper
But I know that someday I’ll do better

So don’t; kiss me, kiss me, kiss me
Don’t kiss me, kiss me, kiss me,
Don’t kiss me, kiss me, kiss me
Tonight

One of my favourite song. "I die for beauty"

wow :)

My Opinion

The chorus is mostly lines from various poems by Emily Dickinson - "Sweet is the swamp with its secrets" (1740), "I died for beauty ... adjusted in the tomb", "Until the moss had reached our lips, / And covered up our names". Never quite sure what to make of that - perhaps he's forced into borrowing from another poet because "you've taken everything from me I had to give"?
