The Grey Man Lyrics

Don't worry now, it's all erased
Burn to grey and white
Your fireproof heart was never wasted
And steady all the while
So You say

Don't worry now, it's all come back
Color rests in night
You'll be there, you'll see her face
And hear her all the while

By the time you've found your way,
You've gotta run right back to the start
Don't think you've lost
You've gotta run right back to the start
And when you finally think it's gone
You've gotta run right back to her arms

Don't worry now, it's all erased
Burn to grey and white
Tell yourself you don't still taste her
Or here her flues at night

By the time you've found your way,
You've gotta run right back to the start
Don't think you've lost
You've gotta run right back to the start
And when you finally think it's gone
You've gotta run right back to her arms

Run, Run fast enough to lose yourself
Our legs were straight but only move in circles

By the time you've found you way,
You've gotta run right back to the start
Don't think you've lost
You've gotta run right back to the start
And when you finally think it's gone
You've gotta run right back to the start
You've gotta run right back to the start
You've gotta run right back to the start
You've gotta run right back to her arms

the correct lyrics:

Don't worry now it's all erased, burned to grey and white Your fireproof heart was never wasted, and steady all the while So you say

Don't worry now it's all come back Colorless as night You'll be there, you'll see her face And hear her all the while

By the time you find your way You're gonna run right back to the start Don't think you're lost You're gonna run right back to the start And when you finally think it's gone You're gonna run right back to her arms

Don't worry now it's all erased, burned to grey and white Tell yourself you don't still taste her Or hear her through the night

By the time you find your way You're gonna run right back to the start Don't think you're lost You're gonna run right back to the start And when you finally think it's gone You're gonna run right back to her arms

Run, run, fast enough to lose yourself Our legs were straight but only move in circles

By the time you find your way You're gonna run right back to the start Don't think you're lost You're gonna run right back to the start And when you finally think it's gone You're gonna run right back to her arms

Ok. A few things. I think it is either "Colorless this night", or "colorless as night"

Also, I really don't think it's "you've gotta run right back to the . . . "

It is "you're gonna run right back to the start/her arms"

And in the verse it is "tell yourself you don't still taste her, or hear her through the night."

And it is "run, run fast enough to lose yourself." Then Aaron says something I think about brakes and only move in circles. Can't quite catch it.

I think the last line of the song really says it all. Aaron seems to be writing about someone who can't get over the one they used to love or was involved with. No matter how hard we try to tell ourselves we are over this person, in the end we're all going to run right back to the start.

This song sounds so good. I'm excited/anticipated for the album's release, very much so.

Pretty sure it's "Colorless as night" instead of "Color rests in night"

also "Run, run fast enough to lose yourself" instead of "What wrong, fast enough to lose yourself"

Oh, and I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is "don't think you're lost" not "don't think you've lost." I don't know. Maybe it's just me, but I don't hear a V in there.

any ideas on the song meaning?

I think it's about someone who doesn't want to accept he's in love, but he really is.

this song is absolutely gorgeous. i agree, that this song is about a person not wanting to accept that they are in love with someone. or being in love with someone still who you can't get over, and know you should get over, but you keep running back to them because they are like your security blanket.

Couldn't agree with you more, aaleman1.

Great explanation(:

Cover art for The Grey Man lyrics by Copeland

If anyone has ever read "I Am The Cheese" by Robert Cormier it's pretty clear that there is some very distinct similarities. "The Grey Man" or Mr. Gray is a character in the book and the Protagonist Adam Farmer is making a trip to find his true identity. along the way he is constantly is thinking of his girlfriend Amy. he keeps having flashbacks to old times and in the end realizes that he has taken the "trip" before and is just repeating the same old steps until he "obliterates".
