Heart Swells/Pacific Daylight Time Lyrics
Black holes.
Unraised moles.
Let's just call them freckles.
Hair cut.
Part left.
Happy on the West Coast.
Coat fell.
Heart swells.
Draped across the sofa.
Sleep well.
I feel you've ruined me forever.
--
I don't want to sound trite, but you were perfect
The way you look could seriously make nature dysmorphic.
I wish that you would kiss me 'til the point of paralysis,
The way I flail my arms in front of you, it just embarrasses
I'll never turn my body clock back.
Think about the things I'm glad I left out,
...
Some things are best left unsaid

The whole first half just has this devastating feeling to me. Like he just got back from meeting with this other person, and he's still in some shock and awe about how it's not going to work between them. He gets home, takes off his coat, and then it just all falls apart when it hits him. And it's easy to say that we've all probably felt that feeling of being ruined by another person, because we'll never love someone again, or never find someone that can replace them, etc. In the second half, it's almost as if he's saying to whatever love he's lost "you were so perfect that everything else around you seems just not right" and we all know that feeling of just wanting to be lost in the moment of a single kiss-especially a last kiss/a kiss goodbye. Talking about flailing his arms seems like he's saying that he's put himself out there so obviously and what he feels for this other person that it almost seems childish, embarrassing--but in the end of it all, he'd never take back a moment of it ("I'd never turn my body clock back") As for the last two lines, it's interesting. One way to interpret it is that he's hiding something from this other person, whether it be his feelings or something else, but in the end, it's easier to be heartbroken and not go through that agonizing and uplifting moment of telling someone that you love them OR it could be about how he's bitten his tongue so many times about how this other person's hurt him/how they've treated him, and in the end, saying them wouldn't help the situation.
I need to stop listening to this. It's just heartbreaking.

I love the Parenthetical Girls quote! argh, so beautiful!
This song is so beautiful it's alarming.
what parenthetical girls quote?
"Some things are best left unsaid" is a reference to Love Connection, by Parenthetical Girls.
wasn't 'love connection' originally by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone?
in the credits (I think thats what they're called) on the album they said that it was originally written and sung by Parenthetical Girls.
I really like this song, it sounds so beautiful and wistful.
karutek, the CFTPA song is a cover of Parenthetical Girls.
does anybody know what he's saying within the crackle? I can't decipher it... :(
