Bad Man's World Lyrics

It’s a bad man's world

Was I born as a promise to keep the peace
Or meet the shame?
Before you split, one thing left
To give me ordinary name
Give me my ordinary name
Now that I’m still standing
I’ve got something left to prove
Got a bullet left, but I can’t decide
Which scorpion I’m going to shoot
Will it be me, will it be you?
It’s a bad man's world
It’s a bad man's world
I’m a bad, bad girl
It’s a bad man's world

I will never forgive you
For what you put us kids through
Remember that night
You tried to take your own life?
When I found you
You were a shade of blue
Success is a state of mind
With a little bit of follow through
And then you failed at that, too
It’s a bad man’s world
It’s a bad man’s world
I’m a bad, bad girl
It’s a bad man’s world

Will it be me, will it be you?
It’s a bad man's world
It’s a bad man's world
I’m a bad, bad girl
It’s a bad man’s world

the first time i heard this song, i definitely thought she was saying "it's a batman's world." surely i can't be alone in this! i see awesome fanmade video potential here.

anyway, i enjoy this song! it's not my favorite on acid tongue, but considering i love everything about everything on that album, i certainly mean nothing bad by that! it's pretty catchy, definitely gets stuck in my head at times!

lyrics are pretty self explanatory, but the song is wonderful... goes good with wine. reminds me of the television show Mad Men, but just the chorus. among that, reminds me of my father... but not depressing, just an honest song.

Let me just start off by saying I adore the portions of the song like "And then you failed at that, too." The way Jenny's voice takes on that spooky quality, it's very haunting.

The lyrics are self-explanatory: it's a self-evaluation. Jenny (or the narrator) clearly recognizes she wasn't born for the exactly right reasons and is setting out to find her purpose, despite the hardships she had to face (not to be overly cliche).

I really enjoy the personal aspect of not only this song, but the entire album as well.

The second part of the song, about the failed attempt, really hits home for me. My mother.
