Cemetery Lyrics
Well, of course, we are all going to have our own opinions and I like/agree with what you all have posted so far! I love this song and Say Anything. I hadn't heard anything about this song being written about his fiance, but if that's true then it definitely fits, but I get mixed opinions from the lyrics. I feel its about both his fiance and about God. Like AllChokedup said, " It's about somebody who's restored his hope, specifically in life and the afterlife" His wife obviously has strong faith, "There's no one who imagines like you, You're convinced there's somewhere that we go to" is Heaven. The first class ticket to the abyss is where he's headed if he kills himself, but God won't let him.."Nothing seems to turn out right" during his failed attempts. God has other plans for him. He isn't sure still if he is going to heaven for both trying to kill himself (or whoever the person is, hopefully is figuratively speaking. Idk if you know anything, but was Max ever suicidal?? I didn't think so anyway..) and for the way he lives with little faith, that's why he will tell God he is with his wife (you), who HAS stuck with him through his hard times and he really is a great person at heart. Visa versa, if he goes to hell "in that lake of fire" he won't tell them he is with her because then i guess she would have to come to hell too for loving him, who, had little faith?? I guess im not sure, but that would be the reason why the last thing he'll do is say he's with "you". For whatever reason though, "you" is the person who is helping him all throughout his life on Earth, but also has a distant relation with God. Weather he has restored his faith or not by the end I'm not sure, and obviously he's not either. But then again no one knows for sure who's gettin' in or not, just gotta have faith!!
New song! I'm pretty sure these lyrics are right, if you think that something needs to be changed just tell me.
Uh, I dunno if this is an earlier version but the lyrics are pretty wrong.

For instance you have "Soiling the bed belligerently" and it's "Soiling the bed all belligernt and wrinkly".

The Chorus is also in the wrong spot, along with other small errors.

This song is SO good, and that last verse is just absolutely perfect. I swear, Max never ceases to amaze me.
Pretty obvious meaning, I think; about somebody who's restored his hope, specifically in life and the afterlife. He loves her for her faith and belief in everything, and although he feels that he's a bad person and has wanted to die on several occasions, he gets through all of it because of her. Or at least, that's the way I took it.
So perfect, though. :]
im in love with the line: you're in my body, thats where i think about you.
this song just proved anyone who thinks say anything has gone mainstream WRONG
this song proves nothing about being mainstream or not

Yeah, got to agree with that. I think what you mean is that it disproves that going mainstream means a band will automatically get worse.

Side note: Say Anything is VERY much so mainstream in this album. I mean, it's good, don't get me wrong, but a lot of these songs sound like something I could hear on the radio.

I honestly cant see any of these songs on the radio. Not even close.

max! i heard he wrote this in some sort of engagement fashion.. i'm not sure if that is right, but it fits..
super great song anyways.
"There's no one who imagines like you."
Straight forwarded I think it's about his fiance whom he feels has helped him feel better about life....tickle me red shares a similar theme
Could I possibly write more?? haha, I left out what I think is my favorite part. If you all watched the version that is on YouTube, he puts a lot of stress/enfasis/emotion of pain into the lines, "But tell me do you still feel this, Tell me do you still feel this." Love it.
Correct lyrics...? Yes yes.
There's a cemetery deep below the sea There is spaces reserved for fools like me Tried to kill myself at least a dozen times But nothing seemed to turn out right
Now I'd rather wait a half a century Soiling the bed belligerent and wrinkly Even when I go blind and lose my mind Nothing seems to turn out right Something's got to turn out right
If you want, then when we die We'll ascend to some place way up high The gate will show you through If they ask me, I'm with you
You're in my body You're in my body You're in my body That's where I think about you In my body You're in my body You're in my body That's where I think about you
There's no one who imagines like you So convinced there's somewhere that we go to Not a first class trip to the abyss Tell me too you still feel this Tell me too you still feel this
As I drown in lakes of fire, I will call your name as I expire It's the last thing that I'll do I will tell them I'm with you
You're in my body You're in my body You're in my body That's where I think about you In my body You're in my body You're in my body That's where I think about you
Falling asleep, asleep at the wheel As I approach that cliff I'm starting to feel If you can wake me up, with only a touch If I can die with you, life would be enough
And I'll face the one you made My disgusting heart from a lump of clay Should he ask what got me through? If he asks me, it was you
You're in my body You're in my body You're in my body That's where I think about you In my body You're in my body You're in my body That's where I think about you
It kills me that they cut the "Last cigarette" part out of the album version.
I adore Say Anything. By any chance is the girl singing in this song his wife, Sherri Dupree of Eisley?
I believe it is his wife, he mentioned it at the show I went to in St. Paul, MN

Actually, there's a live recording on YouTube, where those vocals are actually done by Parker Case. Not really sure after seeing that.
