Maybe this is their saddest song ever; an unborn love, which was "all that he needed to justify his life". But he has not gone mad with pain, he is still reasoning on what happened and has to happen ("It's only right - That I should go - And find myself - Before I go and ruin - Someone else"), focusing instead on his pain.
This is such a lovely song, with such a sad tune.
there s a guy who gets these problems with himself, like depression, and a girl he loves whos always helped him and been there for him, but now hes going away to 'find himself' maybe seek out his past? and hes left her behind and looks back and realises that she was really all that he needed anyhow
