Isles Lyrics

Everyone stares when you walk in the room
They stare when you go
You've got so much control
How could anyone say no
They rarely do
That's why you're you
And why you're winning

And I don't even miss you at all
No no

Caught in the light, you would idly spin
Your skeleton ring
See it shine when you sing
To the window with no meaning
From Tennessee your harmony
Would leave your spirit

And I don't even miss you at all
No no

Silver the shores of isles I've known
Boulevards of dancing boats

You keep the old ember burning
With meadows in mind
As the coaches go by
These thoughts of you will die
They rarely do
That's why you're you
And why you're winning

And I don't even miss you at all
No no

Silver the shores of isles I've known
Boulevards of dancing boats

Silver the shores of isles I've known

It's actually, "Silver the shores of Isles of north."

I think (and I could be wrong) that it's "They rarely do" instead of "They really do"... it makes more sense that way as well.

I only heard the full version of this song recently and it's so beautiful... Shame it didn't make either Sun Giant or the LP.

^ Ok, fixed it! I'm not a native English speaker so it's hard for me to make out the words!

This song is so underrated!!!! I think its easily their best song, I don't think enough people have heard it. Anyways, the tones and the vocals of this track are incredible.

This song is so beautiful. A lovely song about a man pining for lost love.

I think you have it perfect, i am listening to the song right now as i read the lyrics, the only thing i want to add it that yes it could be "isles of north" but the rest seems perfect to me,

My Opinion

I think it's: "that's why you're you and why you'll win"

and it's not "caught in the light, but : "caught him delight, he would idly spin"

I think it's also "silver the shores of isles i've known"

"you keep the old ember burning"

apart from the last one 'you keep the old ember burning', i think you've got them all wrong. (not having a go) you can hear syllables and articulation for why you're winNING isles of NORTH YOU would idly spin

it also makes more sense anyway. :)
