Crashin' Lyrics

I wanna hear some music
Now that they're driving us all underground
Not the radio music, or their satellite singing this
In this town, in this town

I wanna hear some music
And with the rock stars all flicker and fade
Power radio music, I'm a ghost overground
On, on parade

And even if your voice comes back again
Maybe they'll be no one listening
And even if I find the strength to stand
Doesn't mean I won't go missing
And the world will come
Crashing

I wanna hear some music
I have been waiting down here for so long
Trying to write this big music,
With your breath on my face
But now, now you're gone

And even if your voice comes back again
Maybe they'll be no one listening
And even if I find the strength to stand
Doesn't mean I won't go missing
And the world will come,
Crashing

And the whole world comes
Down, down-wards
And all the water on this broken town
The freeway's just like veins without a heart

And the world just comes
Crashing

And the whole world comes
Crashing

And even if your voice comes back again
Maybe they'll be no one listening
And even if I find the strength to stand
Doesn't mean I won't go on

And even if your voice comes back again
Maybe they'll be no one listening
And even if you find the strength to stand
It doesn't mean you won't go missing

And the world will come
Crashing

And the words will come
Crashing

And the music comes
Crashing

Down on me
Down on me

And the words will come
Crashing

And the words will come
Crashing

Down on me
So down on me...

i think everyone is wrong on this. i think the chorus is about him coming back from cancer, wondering if he would still have his fans there for him..

Even if your voice comes back again, maybe there will be no one listening and even i find the strength to stand, doesn't mean you won't go missing

since he just survived a battle with leukemia, i think it means that even he can still sing, and write music will fans and the public still buy/like his music. and (second line) even if he beats this disease, and can walk and produce his music, will everyone have forgotten about him..

absolutely gorgeous song, especially if you know someone suffering from a life threatening disease :-(

instead of "The freeways just like rains without a heart"

it's "The freeways just like veins without a heart"

rains just doesn't make sense, good job otherwise tho.

I think he general idea of this song is a post-breakup. The chorus really hits home for me.

And even if your voice comes back again Maybe they'll be no one listening (even if she comes back to him he may not be there then) And even if I find the strength to stand Doesn't mean I won't go missing (If he can find the strength to not let her back in, he may very well lose all contact with her because even a little would break him down and let her back into his heart) And the world will come Crashin (it will all hit her what has happened)

i think the "crashing" is generic and changes meanign throughout the song though. Crashing is just a metaphor for life hitting you in the face. Just as it does after a break up. This is an optimistic break up song though which I really appreciate.

This song's about Andrew's writer's block while writing the album. That's what the chorus refers to, "even if your voice comes back again, maybe there'll be no one listening". In a way, it kind of references the fear of the 'sophomore slump'. He's afraid because he can't write, and wonders if he can't "find his voice", will there be anyone interested when it "comes back".

I reckon some of the verses are a reaction to the music you hear day-to-day on the radio too, and possibly how uninspiring it is.

The song is a positive ended, cause in the end, his voice comes back to him. He finds his inspiration again, and the music "comes crashing".

i agree with LewisMasonx, i think this song is about having writers block and living in a time where the majorty of people writing and producing music are probably just doing it to get money, and no one cares about the quality anymore.

This song is so catchy. I can't stop listening to this. I can't wait for The Glass Passenger. Andrew has certainly seems to have outdone himself on this album.

i think billiejoe is right cuz the kind of cancer andrew had effected his voice which is probably where "even if your voice comes back again" comes from. then his fear that nobody will like his music when he got better is where "maybe there will be no one listening" comes from.

I agree with Billiejoe- He found out about his cancer because of a medical examination when he had a serious caes of laryngitis. I think that he is saying if He comes back , will anyone be there to care? And what do you know? We do.

I'm sure there is one inspiration for him to write this song, be it cancer, a breakup, writer's block, whatever. But the lyrics are perfectly ambiguous so different people interpret it differently, which is so hard to do and awesome to hear. I think if you simplify and understand it most literally, the song refers to cancer, but ultimately I don't think that was his inspiration for the song, but it's truly up to you what the song means

i actually dont think this song is about cancer at all, i agree that its about writers block maybe its also a little bit about how he wasnt able to record or song while he was in the hospital, but its not directly about cancer

theres an interview where he says that 'caves' is the only song on TGP thats directly about his leukemia
