Nonpareil of Favor Lyrics
My lover, I've been donating
Time to review
All the misinterpretations
That define me and you
I'm thinking about you
In my secret language
Because I know you're the only one
Who can help me take it easy
Now I'm happy in the head
Knowing there ain't no sucker in the world
That's a threat to us
But we've become material
It's like, hey, you were always there
Just on the tip of my tongue
And I needed you to happen, yeah
And now that you've happened
And it really, really, really came true
I feel like I ought to thank somebody
So I'm going to thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you
So I'm calling your ass up
At like three in the morning
Saying, "Wake up, young dragon
Let's go get compromised
You'll be my little ally
And you can huddle which way you choose"
Now I'm so bugged out by your paradigm kisses
How I've acted out southern hemispherical
And the gods know, cracking my sweet love
I'm cracking my sweet love
I'm cracking my sweet love
I'm cracking my sweet love

this is a great opening song and completely sets the stage for the rest of the album using Kevin Barnes' wonderful theatrical sense.
in the beginning of the song, Barnes is expressing his love to his new alter ego, Georgie Fruit. He begins devoting more of his time to this persona, becoming "happy in the head", but noticing that Georgie may be occupying more than his head with "but we've become material". Once the song structure shifts, the speaker changes to Georgie Fruit, who wants to go out and do things the old Kevin would not do. the line "i'm cracking my sweet love" seems like it means Georgie is ready to take over. The ensuing bombast of white noise is the assault on Barnes' personality, which Georgie is completely taking over. By the next song, Barnes is no more and Georgie is the central figure of the album.
Very camp, but genius nonetheless
Best part is the ''I'm cracking my sweet love'' with the drum crashes.
Genius.
Thank you, Mr. Kevin Barnes! :-)
i think this song is my favorite on skeletal lamping :D
I really like the instrumental part, and the whole song is so cool :D
i love the beginning of this song. it sounds like so sweet. the kind of thing someone in love would hear in their head when they saw their significant other.
The instrumental part sorta reminds me of Sufjan Steven's Enjoy Your Rabbit. I absolutley LOVE this song!!
A great opening song, I wish it would kept on the same track as the songs beginning, because it's one of the best you might call..."mini song sections" that make up this entire album. I just think it's meant to set the stage for the relationship themes for the rest of the album with a sort of description of one of his own relationships. No super hidden meanings as far as I'm aware.
jacobbo, I officially joined this site just to tell you to shutup. Creative interpretations like the one bahhrito gave are extremely valuable, and given what I know of the background of the band and Kevin Barnes, it is entirely plausible that bahhrito interpreted it correctly.
bahhrito... very nice interpretation. After reading over the lyrics, I think you are probably right.
