On the surface, this song to me, means that he just wants to forget the rest of the world and live it blindly just for a little while... "shoot out the lights" He just wants to have sex with a girl he just met, or with a girl he's been with.
He just wants to make that one decision in life that may change him forever or face-fuck him forever.
He has to stop stopping and start moving, he needs to do something... So he shoots out the lights and goes for it.
He wrote it for his grandma when she was diagnosed with Cancer...

I'm pretty sure it says "when the cure is made of poison, it's hard to REST YOUR EYES".
This all points to a pretty powerful experience and a lot of it makes more sense once I read the quote from him. I'm glad his Grandma was okay!
