We Are the Involuntary Lyrics
Just drifting along with the world
Every motion is paranoid and paralyzing
Give it up or give ‘em hope
Let us all survive the wake
We, we’re a race, a human race
Under the glass behind it all
Watch us crawl so fearfully
I might be wrong after all
But weren’t we just so delicate yesterday
Sit back and think about it
Sleep it off, sleep on it
Come to, and make your motions
Listen up
There’s a calling ahead
A desperation
A falling of man
We are all lost in the sound of separation
Hands in the air and love at our sides
There’s gotta be something bigger
With the beating in our throats
And the tremble in our grip
This can’t be it
I’ll come up for peace
I’ll come down for truth
I’ll give in, I’ll give up for you
The floors are shaking
And we’ve lost our step
Oh Lord, have mercy on us all
Every motion is paranoid and paralyzing
Give it up or give ‘em hope
Let us all survive the wake
We, we’re a race, a human race
Under the glass behind it all
Watch us crawl so fearfully
I might be wrong after all
But weren’t we just so delicate yesterday
Sit back and think about it
Sleep it off, sleep on it
Come to, and make your motions
Listen up
There’s a calling ahead
A desperation
A falling of man
We are all lost in the sound of separation
Hands in the air and love at our sides
There’s gotta be something bigger
With the beating in our throats
And the tremble in our grip
This can’t be it
I’ll come up for peace
I’ll come down for truth
I’ll give in, I’ll give up for you
The floors are shaking
And we’ve lost our step
Oh Lord, have mercy on us all

this is one of my favorites on their newest album. i love aaron's singing in this one. especially the part near the end where he sings "i'll come up, i'll come up for peace." it gives me chills.
To me this is about a guy/girl just giving up on everything around him, whether its life, relationships, or work. Then half way through the guy/girl wants to turn things around and looks to god for their answer.
i think its first of all, trying to figure yourself out. and, hoping god will be there, and tell you what he wants you to be. thats what i think :) the song is amazing. but, yeah. thats what i thnkkk.
Yeah, this song, it's pretty amazing. And, again, I think this song is about Spencer feeling very pessimistic but still choosing God as his answer.
Yeah, the dude is just going through life, hearing about all the crap people do to each other. how he thinks the human race is hopeless, and was taught that people will always try and do good. but he cant believe that.
maybe being lost in the sound of separation is being lost in all the different religions and fighting wars for religion? just a thought
and in the end, it seems more hopeful
i also think he's speaking to people who call themselvec 'Christians' (and i hate using that word, cause most christians couldn't be more like Christ) are just going through the motions. every move they make is "paranoid" and "paralyzing" to those around. and its like spencer is shouting at them to give up this fakeness or "give em' hope". we are all the same, there is no better or worse, we are all humans, with demons and fears and foes, we are all lost in the sound of seperation (perhaps a seperation from God). there's gotta be more than going through these motions "theres gotta be something bigger". and maybe its found in peace and truth...
loves the singing in this one.
amazing song :)
i thought the part "i come up for peace, come down for truth" was about drugs but i guess not. i love that section of the song btw. the singing is so much more enjoyable than the screaming throughout the whole album, imo.
right after he screams "We are all lost in the sound of separation" who is talking in the background and what are they saying? anyone know?
the person talking in the backround after lost in the sound of separation is an excerpt from the exorcism of emily rose...
