Into The Mouth Of Hell We March Lyrics
Can't you see it's not only me that feels we're linked to the seas
Make your way to a massive grave if you can't fight for each day
Torrential rain at the helm of death
It drowns the weak, battering the rest
Black walls of waves pummel to capsize
The roaring thunder overshadows our cries
Spires of lightning thrown down from the gods
Melting skin even in the deluge
The mast is broken
Hull is splitting
Dear God the fucking ship is sinking
I will try to pour all of myself into this life before I die
Such turmoil, let's make the blood boil
Make your time count or rot as the soil
Life is hard, a fucking battle
The time is now and here's your drum roll
Torrential rain at the helm of death
It drowns the weak, battering the rest
Black walls of waves pummel to capsize
The roaring thunder overshadows our cries
Spires of lightning thrown down from the gods
Melting skin even in the deluge
The mast is broken
Hull is splitting
Dear God the fucking ship is sinking
I will try to pour all of myself into this life before I die
If I go before my time
Then take these words evermore into your life
We crawl out from the wreckage
Fingers dig into the sands of the shores
Everything we worked for is ripped apart and ruined
Drowned deep beneath the dying world
The Earth begins to open up
Into The Mouth Of Hell We March
Into The Mouth Of Hell
Into The Mouth Of Hell We March
Into The Mouth Of Hell We March
Into The Mouth Of Hell
Into The Mouth Of Hell We March
Solo: Corey
Solo: Matt
Now you see for it is we who walk the fire and breathe
Make your way out of the grave & lick the blood from our blades
Spires of lightning thrown down from the gods
Melting skin even in the deluge
The mast is broken
Hull is splitting
Dear God the fucking ship is sinking
I will try to pour all of myself into this life before I die
If I go before my time
Then take these words evermore into your life

The band is on a ship and then a storm, throwing everything at them (lightning, thunder, waves, torrential rain, et al) and them shipwrecking them on an island. They then move ahead with where the storm took them and when things get back to normal, the experience makes them stronger.
In summary, adversity can & will come at all of us in every shape & size but it is up to us to decide how we deal with it, what doesn't kill us will only make us stronger. The song also tries to teach us, vicariously, to make the most of our lives with the time that we have because we will never know when it will be our time to go.
Although your explaination is logical, it is incorrect. The song is actually an allusion to Canto 3 of Dante's "The Inferno", the singer (Heafy) takes the place of a person damned for straying from the narrow path to Paradise. "the shores" that are often referenced are the shores of the river Acheron (Styx in Greek mythology), and the ship is the ferry that Charon (the ferryman) pilots across the river to take the damned souls to hell. The song IS an attempt to encourage others to live well as you said. But clearly you haven't read The Divine Comedy. The...

The sinking of the ship never actually occurs in the poem, but it is a figurative device added by Heafy to illustrate the downfall of the character from his life of decadence. He pulls himself onto the shore on the side where hell's gates are located and wishes for others to "Then take these words evermore into your life" (heed his warning and live well). omg this song rulz, so does every other track out so far and this album will be like insanely awesome
i like this song better than Kirisute Gomen...
hope the album turns out better...
Better than Krisute Gomen. Awesome song especially the whole "We crawl up from the wreckage" bit!!!
Life will come at you with everything it's got. When you get knocked down, pick yourself up, lick your wounds and get back in the battle!
Best Trivium song yet if you ask me.
Aye, I'd have to say that Sonic Raider is dead on. And I've seen your post on Kirisute Gomen, and I gotta say that you seem like the kind of person I'd get along great with.
Holy crap. I loved The Crusade (one of the few I guess) but damn. their new stuff sounds HELLA good
oh and yeah. I think Sonic Raider hit the nail on the head
this song is pretty simple when you think about it, life is going to throw lots of shit at you, in this particular instance (crawl up from the wreckage part) everything is shagged, and then the earth begins to open up, so more shit comes when your at your worst to kick you when you're down, the symbolic message here is when things are at their worst, into the mouth of hell we march lol, so march on into hell and punch satan in the face with a kickass solo! lol
