My Life (feat. Lil Wayne) Lyrics
[Intro: The Game]
Punk-ass motherfucker, checkin' shit
What you was gonna do?
Kill me in my sleep, you bitch-ass nigga?
2Pac, Biggie – shut the fuck up!
Fuckin' dogs, barkin' and shit
(Don't shoot, don't shoot!)
Fuck you, nigga!
[Hook: Lil Wayne]
And I'm grindin' till I'm tired
‘Cause they said: "You ain't grindin' till you tired."
So I'm grindin' with my eyes wide
Lookin' to find a way through the day, a light for the night
Dear Lord, you done took so many of my people
I'm just wonderin' why you haven't taken my life
Like what the hell am I doin' right? My life
[Verse 1: The Game]
Take me away from the hood, like a state penitentiary
Take me away from the hood, in a casket or a Bentley
Take me away, like I overdosed on cocaine
Or take me away, like a bullet from Kurt Cobain
Suicide, I'm from a windy city, like Do or Die
From a block close to where Biggie was crucified
That was Brooklyn's Jesus, shot for no fuckin' reason
And you wonder why Kanye wears Jesus pieces?
‘Cause that's Jesus, people – and Game, he's the equal
Hated on so much, Passion of Christ need a sequel
Yeah, like Roc-a-Fella needed Siegel
Like I needed my father, but he needed a needle
I need some meditation so I can lead my people
They askin', "Why, why did John Lennon leave The Beatles?"
And why every hood nigga feed off evil?
Answer my question 'fore this bullet leave this Desert Eagle
[Hook: Lil Wayne]
And I'm grindin' till I'm tired
‘Cause they said: "You ain't grindin' till you tired."
So I'm grindin' with my eyes wide
Lookin' to find a way through the day, a light for the night
Dear Lord, you done took so many of my people
I'm just wonderin' why you haven't taken my life
Like what the hell am I doin' right? My life
[Verse 2: The Game]
We are not the same, I am a Martian
So approach my Phantom doors with caution
You see them 24's spinnin'? I earned 'em
And I ain't no preacher, but here's my Erick Sermon
So eat this black music and tell me how it taste now
And fuck Jesse Jackson, ‘cause it ain't about race now
Sometimes I think about my life, with my face down
Then I see my sons and put on that Kanye smile
Damn, I know his mama proud; and since you helped me sell my dream, we can share my mama now
And like M.J.B. no more drama now
Livin' the good life, me and Common on common ground
I spit crack, and niggas could drive it out of town
Got a Chris Paul mindstate, I'm never out of bounds
My life used to be empty like a Glock without a round
Now my life full like a chopper with a thousand rounds
[Hook: Lil Wayne]
And I'm grindin' till I'm tired
‘Cause they said: "You ain't grindin' till you tired."
So I'm grindin' with my eyes wide
Lookin' to find a way through the day, a light for the night
Dear Lord, you done took so many of my people
I'm just wonderin' why you haven't taken my life
Like what the hell am I doin' right? My life
[Verse 3: The Game]
Walk through the gates of hell, see my Impala parked in front
With the high beams on, me and the devil sharin' chronic blunts
Listenin' to the Chronic album, playin' backwards
Shootin' at pictures of Don Imus for target practice
My mind fucked up, so I cover it with a Raider hood
I'm from the city that made you motherfuckers afraid of Suge
Made my grandmother pray for good
It never made her happy, but I bet that new Mercedes could
Ain't no bars, but niggas can't escape the hood
And it took so many of my niggas that I should hate the hood
But it's real niggas like me that make the hood
Ridin' slow in that Phantom just the way I should
With the top back, in my Sox hat
I'm paid in full, the nigga Alpo couldn't stop that
Even if they brought the nigga Pac back
I'd still keep this motherfucker cocked back
[Hook: Lil Wayne]
And I'm grindin' till I'm tired
‘Cause they said: "You ain't grindin' till you tired."
So I'm grindin' with my eyes wide
Lookin' to find a way through the day, a light for the night

this is one of the best rap songs out there. its not all about killing and sex. its about how the hood has killed so many people, yet there are still so many people that still risk their lives in gangs and shit that make the hood as dangerous as it is
This is one of the Game's best songs period andone of my favorites right now
this is an amazing song. i haven't liked game's stuff since the documentary came out, but this song is the shit. i kinda wish people wouldn't have given so much controversy to the original em/proof verse. flows a lot better than the jesse jackson erik sermon lines.
"You see them 24's spinning? I earned em' And all the pictures of me and em, i burned em'. So there ain't no proof that I ever walked through 8 mile And since there ain't no Proof I'll never walk through 8 mile"
I can see where people would get that idea, but Game has come out and said that it was never his intention to diss Em or Proof and so he changed the lyrics up to avoid the controversy. All he was saying was now that Proof has died, he can't go to Detroit without feeling remorseful.
The intro that's done by Lil Wayne may mean that before he may have been doing ok but then hard times set in and changed things. Since wayne is a marijuana smoker (heavy smoker at that), grinding may mean grinding weed up to ease the pain and struggle of everyday life especially with how the instrumental is sounding at that point (really depressing).
Plus the lyrics add up, to the pain.
dude. this is seriously like, the best song ever. it's so goooood.
Love the part where he mentions sharing his momma with Kanye. Really sweet.. for rappers. ;) Great song.
its about his wife and daughter dying in a car accident
I think it’s about the hood and how it could change your life; but mostly, it’s about cocaine. There’s no weed grinding, it’s cocaine grinding.
“And I’m grindin’ til I’m tired....Dear Lord, you’ve done took so many of my people but I’m just wonderin’ why you haven’t taken my life…” Grinding cocaine, wondering why of all the people he knows who do cocaine, how come he’s not one of the ones who’s “overdosed on cocaine”.
“And f**k Jesse Jackson cause it ain't about race, now…” meaning cocaine is not abused by just one race.
But aside from the meaning, I think this is a fucking beautiful song. I love the Game and I’m glad my brothers taught me the difference between one-hit wonders (like Soulja Boy) and talented rappers.
I kinda agree with what you said, but i dont think its about him grindin cocaine or weed its about him grinding thru life trying to live from today and possible tomorrow.

Dear Lord you’ve done took so many of my people but I’m just wonderin’ why You haven’t taken (my life? x3)
these are really powerful couple of lines. Makes you think about your own life and just wow yeah how lucky you are to be alive. Then when he repeats mylife you can't help but sing along and just reflect. solid.
grindin does not mean doing coke, maybe selling coke, but grindin is a reference to making a living by selling drugs. if you watch the video it will make sense to you. the red bandana symbolises a drug dealer
