Self Employed Chemist Lyrics

It's like you know the words but you can't hear the music.
You've lived a lie for so long, now you believe it.
You're shooting silver bullets and taking magic pills.
I'm asking you, do you know a way to delete my conscious?
Don't put your ear to the floor to hear the sound of the future.
Yours is a history, shaped by disaster.
We're coming back for you.
You better brace yourself.
I'm telling you, we're coming back.
To collect that killer who killed me and threw me away.
Am I holding you up or are you holding me down?
We make the same mistakes.
We always count them.
I want to fail you so badly.
I'm telling you, we're coming back to collect that killer.
What if I have to lose? What if i have to suffer?
So what if I have to lose? So what if I have to suffer?

Seems like cory has a different style and different ideas but he's afraid of changing what Norma Jean used to be (heavy hardcore) so he's gradually changed it to his comfort I repsect him for that. I first heard BMKC and thought it was awesome then i tried to adapt to this new stuff coming from Norma Jean and I finally did and it's awesome great album... once again

From a Revolver Interview:

OK, so with “Self-Employed Chemist,” what is that song about? BRANDAN Well, what do you think when you hear “Self-Employed Chemist”?

Drugs. BRANDAN Yeah, that’s pretty much what it is. The song’s kind of…I don’t know how far I should go into what that song’s about. [Pauses] It just basically deals with a person that I was with for a long time…one of the mothers of my kids. She struggled with addiction for eight years. And I saw her go through that. I was very much in love with her, so it comes from that. She’s just recently gotten over it, and she’s doing really well. I’m super-proud of her, and she’s been doing so amazing. I can really see a change in her. One of the lines in the song is “We’re coming back to collect that killer.” And that’s inspired by a thing she said to me when she cleaned up.
