The first line says it all, dealing with an insecure partner that always questions their love. “Fighting every one that I see, learning when and where not to be.” He can’t look at other people or be anywhere around other people without his love being questioned, no trust.
“My invasion of thoughts is your caviar” caviar is a delicacy food. So her always wanting to know what is on his mind is all this means. He can’t even have his own thoughts.
“Would you like us to wave off every battle” Trust constantly questioned but they never want to address it and talk about it.
I think it is just dealing in with an overbearing and insecure partner to sum it up.

And no, I don't believe they've ever played it live. It'd be tough to do without Chino, it's not like Uneasy Hearts where the guest vocal can be done by the lead without incident.
