We've Come A Long Way Lyrics

I thought I'd learned to behave
but I don't feel I'm acting my age
Once in a while
And though things may not be the same
you have helped me feel no pain
all of my life

I wanted to say
to you
We've come a long, long way
There's so much to say
Still have a long, long way

You've seen me at my worst
and I've seen you in the reverse
We are equal
And no matter what happens from here
no matter where life ends, my dear
I will be grateful

I wanted to say
to you
We've come a long, long way
There's so much to say
We've come a long, long way

(La la la la la la)

I thought I'd learned to behave
but I don't feel I'm acting my age
Once in a while
And no matter what happens from here
no matter where life ends, my dear
I will be grateful

I wanted to say
to you
We've come a long, long way
There's so much to say
We've come a long, long way

(Oo ah)

I see it as a relationship that has had a bunch of ups and downs, and is reflecting how things have gotten better and changes over all the things they have been threw. He sounds grateful and honest. One of my favorites.

Reminds me a lot of graduating from high school. You spend 13 years with one group of people, you're going to have ups and downs, and you're going to witness other people's. It doesn't matter if you're close with everyone; you've been through it all together. You may not like everyone, and there may have been people that you've had major differences with. At the end though, all the little things that happened over the years really don't seem to matter that much. You get to the end, look back, and see how far you've come together. Then you can look to the future, and see that there's still a long way to go. Maybe you won't be surrounded by these people anymore, but you've come this far and that's all that's really important at the moment.
