68 Lyrics

I
Am the one you will call the destroyer
The messenger of my disgrace
I am my own disease
You
Sit on your throne of compassion
The charges will fall as we all
Go marching so helplessly on

We came this far
To tear the curtain
Shed light so i can
See your eyes
Shed your light on me

What
Is this unhealthy obsession
Destroy everything you create
I am my own disease
You
God of the broken and wretched
The charges will fall
I am my own disease

I carry the weight of this burden
And watched as they all fell away
Its not just a dream its a nightmare
I carry the weight of this burden
And watched as they all fell away
Its not just a dream its a nightmare

We came this far
To tear the curtain
Shed light so i can
See your eyes
Shed your light on me

We came this far
To tear the curtain
Shed light so i can
See your eyes
Shed your light on me

We will fall to ruin
If we don't bury disguises that we made
We will see the finish
If we will carry ourselves to the end of the race
The charges will fall
I am my own disease
I am my own disease

When i first heard this new haste the day song, it made me think of some references in the book of Revelations. for instince, the 'destroyer' is mentioned in the book a lot and is refered to apollyon, or the angel of the abyss. the song also mentions jugdes, which appear frequently throughout the book as well. Again, there are other references as well, such as curtains, thrones, and others. Very good song.

Does anyone know why the song is called 68?

the song is simply called "68" it's because the song is in 6/8 meter...

My guess is that this song relates to Psalm 68.

Could you elaborate on that? I could look it up, but for everyone else on the site....

where it says the judges will fall, the real lyrics are the charges will fail straight from the lyrcis booklet with the cd.

I think the song is about how people only have themselves to blame for their sins. "I am my own disease" is a perfect example of that. The song also explains how we should be true to God and carry out his will to the end (We will fall to ruin - end of the race). They beg for God's light to be shed on them. But the main theme I think is how the only person the singer is blaming is himself: "I am my own disease", "Messenger of my disgrace", and "[Obsession to] Destroy everything [God] creates". These are things we all struggle with. I know I struggle with controlling my urge to sin.
