Found The Road Lyrics

You drew a map
Made just for me

And I never found the road
No I never found the road

Your twists and bends
are meaningless

And I never found the road
No I never found the road

To any home where
I once belonged
Or to any time when
I could be strong

And I never found the road
No I never found the road

Your twists and bends
are meaningless
Your warning signs
I can't discern
Your diagrams
are surely wrong
But you knew the way
You made it there

And I never found the road

Cover art for Found The Road lyrics by Andy Yorke

"This song is obviously about Andy trying to deal with the success of his brother's band. He says "The Bends" is meaningless and he never found "the road" - a potential illusion to songs like "Airbag" and "Killer Cars"?"

"He goes onto say "your diagrams are surely wrong". Many Radiohead albums have artwork by Thom Yorke in the liner notes."

"Your warning signs, I can't discern" is Andy practically dismissing "4 Minute Warning"

"The last two lines also look like Andy is implying that Thom Yorke sold out."

"To any home where I once belonged" is Andy reflecting on the fact he feels second best to Thom"

Reducing this song to Andy Yorke whining about his brother's success is kind of ridiculous and really not fair to either of them, especially Andy. I'm sure he has a life outside of being Thom's brother, and it seems like he's always been very professional and conscious of keeping their careers separate. Sorry if I sound harsh, but constantly coming across people trying to read things like that into his music gets tiring. :-/

The song's vague enough that it could mean a lot of things. I think it's just about being lost in general, in a metaphorical sense. It sounds like it could be romantic as well, as though the "you" in the song planned for the two of them to have a future together, but the narrator couldn't follow through with those plans for whatever reason.

I like Andy's solo album... I think I like his Unbelievable Truth stuff more, but it's still quite good; just lovely, soothing music. He has such a beautiful voice - guess it runs in the family. :-P
