I think he is trying to put his fears aside and fight and change the world for the better. To do what he believes in without fear. He wants to burn his cowardly life to the ground and be strong in his speech and actions.
To me this song is like deeply expressing the sorrow in all the heinous acts done by man over the course of years.Wars fought on baseless lines and deaths amount.But this cant go on someone has to put an end to all this madness.Karl in a way is puttin out just that.
