I don't care to explain everything in precede, but you should know that it was New Year's Eve. She just got back to town and there was a party that night. And fall back in love with me and make me your man. Instead you just stared out the window and I figured out where it would all go. I turned off the car when I got to your driveway and we looked towards each other and looking away. On New Year's Day the air was so cold. Finally I looked at you and this is what I told: "I don't love you, and I don't hate you" and then you said the same to me, and we knew we would never have a first love again, and we held each other one last time, and as I drove home I sang "it's gonna be alright baby" and when I was crying in bed that night I sang to myself "it's gonna be alright baby."
