so what does this song mean?

As usual, this song reminds me of my previous relationship that ended a month ago. She left for a overseas working holiday for nearly a year. She decided that she doesn't want to be attached to me or anyone too close back home, so she broke up with me. We're young, I kind of expected it. Anyways my interpretation goes something like this:

Remember us? We're the ones who made the party suck Changed the music playing way too much And then turned it off

Remember us? We were so obsessed with each other we ditched our own friends just so we could be alone. We're the ones to made the party suck (ditched friends). Our friends always complained that we never did as much as we used to (Changed the music), and now the relationship is turned off.

And she was like there's no point to my entire life Well that sounds so bad but feels alright Maybe that's the point, don't relax we're not finished yet

She often felt as if she was a useless person, doing nothing with her life, outside of me. (So she organised this working holiday). She always felt bad because she was leaving me to go fulfil a dream of her own. Maybe that's the point, we can't relax as we are, I've let her go so she can fulfil this dream and hopefully she'll come back to me.

Everything has changed, we had an argument before she left and she didn't leave on the best terms with me. Feels like the time we spent in our relationship was a time wasted.

Airport tags, she was gone now she's coming back I was worried but it's not that bad Nothing much has changed

She's gone and she'll be coming back, just a few days ago she said that she was sorry for being a bitch about our argument and we are now on good terms. So nothing much has changed.

This doesn't suit in my interpretation at the end, it would have suited half way through the song. However if it were, she's detached herself from everyone at home, she didn't want any communication, not even with family. All of her friends were concerned as to why she is going this, detaching herself. Doing this will cause her to not feel much love from anyone.

After everything though, the other day she has started to talk to everyone. She's realised that she needs everyone, so I'm actually going overseas on my own holiday towards the end of this year, but she wants to see me when I do so. :)

Tonight everything is going to change.
