I Said I'm Sorry Lyrics

I'm B-grade, underweight but excited to be here
I don't mean what I say, it's ok, please believe me
I said I'm sorry, we could shake hands on it
And red carpets unroll like tongues all around us
Shot down like pro-choice doctors in Texas
We make out for a while and I felt like an actor
But when we left it was light and I just felt embarrased

I said I'm sorry, we could shake hands on it

It used to be the only reason I breathed, but now it's just choking me up
Don't say no, just shut up and swallow it
I said I'm sorry

I'm B-grade underweight, out of place, dehydrated
Inhaling peroxided conversation
I've a confession to make and you're not gonna like it
I stand up and clench my fist, my life determined in fifteen minutes

I said I'm sorry, we could shake hands on it
I'm B-grade, underweight, but excited to be here

I can see how people say this is about fame but I had a slightly different interpretation.. maybe a drunken one-night stand?

The first verse refers to the fact of their fairly low-grade fame. Underweight could refer to insecurities about his body. He hooks up this girl and it feels very fake and empty, but nevertheless he sleeps with her and the next morning he's ashamed and obviously..sorry.

The next verse MUST be a reference to Brand New "It used to be the only reason I breathed, but now it's just choking me up" the whole line is an exact quote. The song it refers to talks about sex and emptiness. He was obviously pushy towards the girl when he was drunk "Don't say no, just shut up and swallow it"

So he wakes up the next day dehydrated (hungover) and out of place at this girls house. I'm guessing this girl is a bit dumb (peroxide=blonde) and he sees that this has been a huge mistake. His confession is that he doesn't want any relationship.

The next part, in addition to the Brand New reference, which is about a guy losing his virginity, makes me think this could have been his first time. His first sexual experience has been determined in fifteen minutes. Alternatively it could refer to the girl being pregnant, which could explain the pro-choice reference.

For such a pop-orientated indie band, their lyrics are pretty amazing. This song is quite infectious

this really reminds me of Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk.

but regardless of meaning, it's fucking awesome

Way to steal lyrics from another band. Brand New - Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades.

I would just like to point out to 'faithinthethief' that the lyrics "but now it's just choking me up" are hardly ripping off lyrics from Sic Transit Gloria. If it were, I would be the first to write-off this song. Jesse Lacey is a lyrical genius, and these boys aren't far off. I take my hat off to them.

a great song about hating the shallow sides of fame....

This is about fame and how its shit Not necessarily hating it, but feeling incompetent and awkard against it But they're excited, as in the first line hahaaa

Ugh. Like this song and it is especially fitting for today, but the 'shot down like pro-choice doctors" is evasive. Call a spade a spade...shot down by some lunatic because they ended the lives of thousands of growing children in the womb. (It ain't a rock growing inside ya, people, so consider adoption, please.) Anywho, I send this song out to anyone I've taken pot shots at today or any other day. It's easy to hit someone when s/he's down. I'm sorry. I was wrong. I let my anger get the best of me. Please forgive me. (Just wish I could have found a better song:)

Ok, here's my thoughts:

A B-grade person is someone who is "less-than" also known as: inferior.. He is underweight from his methamphetamine addiction (hence the underweight as well as the dehydration he speaks of in the song) an addiction he that he has no regrets/problems with.

He does not mean what he says but still wants to be believed He then goes on to apologize, wich he just told us was a lie, he'd even shake your hand on it.. (So he is not an honorable person: not honest, fair or trustworthy)

The person he is acting intimate with used to be his reason in life/reason to continue living but now he's choking/dying.

Texas is state that imposes extra restrictions on abortion clinics. (which is possibly a reference to death, I'm not too sure on this one)

(Peroxide actually inhibits healing) so an un-healing/unhealthy conversation

He has something to say that the other person won't like.. He is angry hence the clenched fist In his higher than normal state i am thinking he determined his death in that 15 minutes due to the choking mentioned earlier in the song

Possibly taking his own life or causing someone to take his life and he wants you to know that he is lying about being sorry He's not sorry, and it seems he's rubbing it in due to the repeated apologizing

((ex·cit·ed: 1. very enthusiastic and eager. "they were excited about the prospect" synonyms: thrilled, exhilarated, animated, enlivened, electrified; More 2. PHYSICS of or in an energy state higher than the normal or ground state.))

((physics also known as " knowledge of nature" wich makes me believe all of this is for that person he was intimate with
