Let the Little Lady Talk Lyrics

Let down when you're on top.
You don't stop.
Gotta let the little lady talk.
One round says you've both dropped,
you don't stop.
You don't stop,
the lover's hanging on.

Ey, ey. (x2)

Well, welcome home.
Midnight 'til dawn.
Like the battlefields,
we'll tear the walls down.
The girl pulls her own.
Heads start to fall.
See the shock of a city-wide black out.

She takes the kick to the podium top.
Like a lover left now, but to carry on,
I'll carry on.

Well, welcome home.
Midnight 'til dawn.
Like the battlefields,
Let it carry you on.

Hey, so make your best wishes.
I like to watch 'em all circle around.

Let down when you're on top.
You don't stop.
Gotta let the little lady talk.
One round says you've both dropped
the last call, on the house where the love is hanging on.
Back down, get on the wall.
You don't stop.
You gotta let the little lady talk.
One round says you've both dropped.
You don't stop.
You don't stop, the love is hanging on.

Well, welcome home
another late-night show.
Inviting, with the knock-out.
The girl takes the talk,
cheats you out of the walk.
Paralyzing, from the waist down.
I've caught the wind from the fits you threw.
I've got nothing left now but to let it go,
I'll let it go.

Well, welcome home,
another late-night show,
with fighting for the knock-out.

Hey, so make your best wishes.
I like to watch 'em all circle around.
Hey, the lottery you wasted.
I watched you burn your sweepstakes to the ground.

Let down when you're on top.
You don't stop.
Gotta let the little lady talk.
One round says you've both dropped,
The last call on the house where the love is hanging on.
Back down, get on the wall.
You don't stop.
You gotta let the little lady talk.
One round says you've both dropped,
You don't stop.
You don't stop, the love is hanging on.

I wanna throw in the towel.
Hey, I wanna throw in the towel.
Oh, oh, hey, I wanna throw in the towel.
So this is how it feels to be down.
So this is what it feel like.
Yeah, I'll watch 'em circle around.

Ey, ey.
Ey, ey.
Da daaa, dada da daa da daaa.
Da da dada da daa da.
Ey, ey.
Da daaa, dada da daa da da.
Da da da daa da daa.

Let down when you're on top.
You don't stop.
Gotta let the little lady talk.
One round says you've both dropped,
the last call, on the house where the love is hanging on.
Back down, get on the wall.
You don't stop.
You gotta let the little lady talk.
One round says you've both dropped.
You don't stop.
You don't stop, the love is hanging on.

Well, welcome home.
Well, welcome home.
Ey, ey, you don't stop the lover's hanging on. (x4)

First, in response to cheeseninja3, while I agree that most of the songs are focused more on horizontal relationships, I submit that they aren't all (Return, Frank Morris) and some of those that are still have positive things to say (Mile Away, LTLLT, Counterfeit). Love is an important part of life as well; that can't be understated. Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind a little more God in the lyrics either.

Now to the song at hand. There are a few incorrect lines in these lyrics, mainly in the first verse, but the point is still there. It seems to me - and I'm still not fully satisfied with this interpretation - that it's talking about the struggles of romantic, particularly marriage, relationships. It takes the perspective of a man who's wife is a nag or perhaps just a "talker" with lots of opinions. They're fighting and she's "throwing fits" (light the battle fields; we'll tear the walls down...another late night show; we're fighting for the knockout) and he's tired of it (I wanna throw in the towel; so this is how it feels to be down). But he's not giving up. He chooses to let her talk instead of walking away, thus saving the relationship (you don't stop; you gotta let the little lady talk. One round says you both drop; the last call on the house where the lover's hanging on). Later in the chorus, it ends with the same line, except with one small change: lover's to lovers. It's no longer a single person, but two people - lovers hanging on. In the end this song is about a couple fighting with each other, then fighting through the struggles to stay together. And while it talks only about the guy hanging on, I think it's safe to say the same can be said of women.

There are still some parts of the song that don't quite sit well with this interpretation in mind, but it's the best I can get at this point - and I've heard this song a lot. It's very very cryptic. Love the band, love the writing - brilliant.

the vocal talent shows here cuz some lines go pretty high, but i seriously have no clue what theyre talking about....

My first thought on this song was that it was about a girl who is the product of divorce, and she's watching her parents fight. Maybe I'm putting too much personal experience into that interpretation though.

Another look at it suggests that it's about a dysfunctional couple; someone looking in on them (maybe God, who knows), and saying Hey wait a second, you have to let your wife get a word in, mister. And while you're at it, back out of the fight before you let it escalate to the point of no return, where no one ends up winning, you're both just emotionally exhausted (too much to properly fix this).

My Interpretation

I thought this was about a couple who were in a struggle of some kind, but then something larger made them sort of...fight together. In my head it's some kind of hostile alien takeover or supernatural demons being raised from hell or something insane like that, but that could just be me...xD

I thought that it sounded more like "Caught the wind from the pitch you threw" than "Caught the wind from the fits you threw." Seems to make a little more sense, but I have no idea what he could be talking about.

Lyric Correction

I think that the song is about meeting someone and thinking that you are going to get a little more than a goodnight kiss. the first part of the song indicates that she invited you to her house and you intend to really get wild and that you're surprised that you could even pull this girl. "she takes the cake to the podium top" i think indicates that she has insenuated that what she has to give is a cut above the rest, so not only do you think that you are lucky to have her but you put her ..."cake" on a pedistool (which is why she later backs down and doesn't want to go through with it.) the chorus tells us to backdown and except no as our final answer. "hey, hey, so make your best wishes..."tells us that there goes your hope of getting her in bed, they are flushed down the toilet.

the second verse shows what happens when instead of letting it go, you get mad for being led on. and the "one round say you both drop.." says that it's big deal, it wouldn't have lasted that long or been that great anway, so let it go and keep it moving.

all in all, i think the singer is looking in on a rather ridiculous situation and is saying " yeah, i know that you're disapointed, but just chill out and let it go man".

oh, and to tie into the whole "good messege"thing, i think that the whole song in from the standpoint of "waiting" if you know what i mean. it is, in my opinion, the only senerio that fits everything in the song, as he is telling the guy to backdown, but not give up loving the girl.

I always thought that it was a guy admiring a girl from a far kinda like, he had a crush on this girl who was really popular and maybe a little tougher and she was always trying to prove that she was good enough to be treated equally to the guys.

But this guy is one of her best friends and he sees how tough she is and reasons with the guys to let her talk.

and the midnight to dawn line was symbolizing her getting home late and he's her neighbour or something, but basically she's having sex with her boyfriend (or maybe prostitute I like to see them all circle around) then the lottery you wasted your virginity, yourself and he's like I see what you are doing,

and then somehow their is a group of guys and her and their is something they can't do and the girl takes the talk, and cheats you out of the walk (Like she does better than you) Which makes him really impressed (Paralyzing from the waste down)

and through all of this her friend is saying love is still holding on, But at the end he is saying to her if you don't stop where my love is handing on, we will both go down, when I walk away sad, and then you'll miss me when I'm gone hts Just my thoug

My Opinion

this band sounds neat but every song is about a breaking up with his girlfriend and nothing about God. so much for the christian label
