The End Lyrics

Call me a liar,
Call me your friend.
I will let you down again,
Cause I'm a disaster of epic proportions.
I will let you down again.

I am not worthy to be called your savior.
I am not going to catch all your blame.
But to warn you, some may fall on my name.

"How could you do this to all your believers?
How could you do this to all your friends?
You know this is the end."
I know this is the end.
I know this is the end.

I think this is about how no one man can be looked up to and trusted. We are all liars and we all let each other down. Even if we don't mean to, it happens. I think that as the song goes he is talking to himself as he says "How could you do this to all your believers? How could you do this to all your friends? You know this is the end." He realizes that he's got to end whatever it is that's weighing him down in life, whether is be drugs, alcohol, or anything, he knows that he's got to change. This is the end.

Is this all of the song?

For me, this song sounds like he's talking to God... I dunno, 'cause the "How could you do this to all your believers?", thats what it makes it feel like. and how he's saying he'll let "someone" down again. I'm wrong, right? well, I just had to put my opinion in. No matter what it's about, I still really love this song.

Personally, I think this is about the Antichrist. The Antichrist will have countless followers, believers, and friends. People will say HE is the Messiah and our savior. Some will deny him, claiming him to be a liar because the Bible says he will be the father of lies. And while he will promise us so much, he will do little and let us all down. He will bring down all his believers, friends, and followers. He will make them fall on his name. He will take them away from God and salvation and bring them towards destruction. All of those who believed in him and befriended him will find it out once The End (the Rapture) occurs. They will see him for who he really was, a liar and a disaster.

Obviously, the chorus in the background are his followers. The single voice is the Antichrist himself.

Not to mention, they're a Christian band. Over half of their songs have to do with Christianity and Scripture. I don't think they would be talking about some normal man.

Actually they aren't a Christian band, but 3 out of the 5 members are christian. Regardless all of their songs do have a very uplifting or thought provoking message.

I think YoureFired2011 has a good interpretation.

I think the speaker is saying that his friends shouldn't put all the blame on him for letting them down or ruining their friendship. He is only human, and they should have realized that he could have failed them. I think

"How could you do this to all your believers? How could you do this to all of your friends? You know this is the end!"

is his friends telling him how they feel about what he did. The last couple of lines mean that the friendship is over. Overall, the song is about how everyone is human and will let you down sometimes, so you shouldn't put people on pedestals.

To me, this is the lead singer (Matt) talking about flaws that he has, and that because of these flaws, he can't be trusted and will inevitably let you down. This part: "How could you do this to all your believers? How could you do this to all your friends? You know this is the end." seems to be his loved ones talking to him, asking how he could let them down. That's why they used the gang vocals there. It's not him talking to himself in the third person, it's all of the other people talking to him. Then it comes back in with just him singing about himself again with the "I know this is the end".
