It's a great song but what the hell does it mean? I don't understand it at all. hahaha.

Illegitimi non carborundum is a mock-Latin aphorism meaning "Don't let the bastards grind you down." it was used by the British in World War II and the US Army adopted it as one of their mottos.

I believe that this song is a mockery and defiance of government. "Pharmaceuti-government got your mind and your thoughts. Can you feel, where's your spine?"

They are fed up with people just doing as they are told by the government and not speaking for themselves. I think they're saying that government is out for blood, to rule our lives and dominate us. So we should build a shelter to protect ourselves from the dominating conspiracy that calls itself a government. Government is supposed to protect us, but we are now having to fight for our lives to stand up beneath political rulers.

They are rebuking people who put faith and trust in government. But really, the government uses fear as a way to harness our allegiance. They make up reasons for us to be afraid, but "they fear they dispatch comes from a diffident path." Diffident means lacking confidence in one's own ability, worth, or fitness; timid; shy. Diffident means self-conscious or embarrassed. So because politicians aren't confident and are self-conscious about losing power or influence, the government scares the innocent so they can feel like they are in control.

"Get down in your basement. These sirens are loud. Lock the doors and eat the key, To elude the things you'd see."

They are warning people to hide before the government completely overpowers them. Lock the door and eat the key so you can't escape even if you want to. "To elude the things you'd see" is to escape the understanding of the reality of government. They are pretty much saying, "Trust me, you weak people, you can't handle to know the truth about who you've placed in power and trust."

"Take notice, Everybody's frightened by the Radically enlightened, and they Say to jump. Still, you reply How high?"

The radically enlightened is referring to people in power who think they are so above common man. But society is so afraid that they do whatever government tells them to do. We want to please them.

"Evacuate now, cause This storm's out for blood. Build a shelter for your kind"

Yup. Those are my thoughts. Anti-government. I don't agree with them, but that's what I think they are trying to say.

I really love how they use Latin in this. Yummm, Latin.
