Well, I lost my innocence today
I could feel her in my bones
My bones, my bones, my bones
My blood, my blood, my blood, my blood

And I woke up, tired, scared and sad
Soaked, drained, I felt so bad
Today, today, today
What you still, you still, you still, you still
Won't you say, you say, you say, you say
What you feel, you feel, you feel, you feel
Which is nothing but hollow feelings, yeah
I can die, I just don't care

And forget happiness, I'm fine
I'll forget everything in time
I swear I didn't know
You know me, how I can't let go
And we're not gods, we're just hacks
All that life amongst the cracks
The scars, the siege that breaks
The ugliest scene, the worst mistakes
And everywhere I see her face
Such a beautiful child, such an awful waste
And there's no innocence like hers
Just emptiness and nerves

And this light from the window of my car
She'll never see it, oh my god
I was so surprised, it blew up in my face
Lord, I lost my nerve, oh my god
Oh my god, oh my god

And I tear, I tear, so hard
And I tear, I tear, so hard
And I beg and scream, "I was wrong"
It's over, she's gone
Oh my god

    Song Meaning

I believe it is really about a guy who is depressed (if you see the full version lyrics, there are two verses about him being unhappy, and thinking of committing suicide). Here he cheats on his gf, he is losing his innocence, and after he wakes up, next to other girl, he is full with regrets, he destroyed everything, he was happy but he didn't knew it, and now she is gone.

What you still, you still, you still, you still Won't you say, you say, you say, you say What you feel, you feel, you feel, you feel Which is nothing but hollow feelings, yeah I can, done, I just don't care

She doesn't know what to feel about after what he did.

And forget happiness, I'm fine I'll forget everything in time

He knows that he will never be happy again, because what he thought he wanted, only made him miserable.

I swear I didn't know, You know me, how I can't let go And we're not guts, we're just hacks All that life amongst the cracks The scars, the siege that breaks The ugliest scene, the worst mistakes And everywhere I see her face Such a beautiful child, such an awful waste And there's no innocence like hers Just emptiness and nerves

He tries to explain his actions, he misses her so much, but that doesn't change a thing, despite how broken he was before, she is the only one that could make it all better, but she is gone.

I was so surprised, it blew up in my face Lord, I lost my nerve, oh my God... Oh my God, oh my... God

He realizes completely what he has done, he asks for forgiveness, he is surprised be the situation, by how easily he lost control.

And I beg and scream, "I was wrong" It's over, she's gone

nothing can be changed.. what a beatiful and realistic song <3

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
