Better Be Prepared Lyrics
I'm making my way
Through cities and towns
Just trying to lose myself in skylines
And forget that I lost my mind
When I couldn't hold her
And now that I feel
All the weight on my shoulders
I fall
So here's a couple words for you
To let you know what I've been through
I've got this off-track set mind
Where everything is fine
If I know I got a ticket to the other side
And I'll breathe you in tonight
I'll find my own way home
You know I'll be fine
You got me walking through
The back door, back door
Hoping that I'll find you sitting there
You know that I will find you somehow
And I better be well prepared
To change the way that I believe
The stories old but not complete
I've got this off-track set mind
Where everything is fine
If I'm ever gonna meet you
On the other side
And I'll breathe you in tonight
I'll find my own way home
You know I'll be fine
You got me walking through
The back door, back door
Hoping that I'll find you sitting there
You know that I will find you somehow
And I better be well prepared
To walk through
The back door, back door
With my head in my hands
'Cause I can find you somehow
I better be well prepared
I'm gonna be prepared
I need to get out of the city lights
And make my way to the countryside
I'll drive down the roads
The roads we both know
Will lead me to the place
I've missed the most
I'll get to your house
I'll burst through the door
I'll climb up the stairs
You know I'm scared
That I have changed
You got me walking through
The back door, back door
Hoping that I'll find you sitting there
You know that I will find you somehow
And I better be well prepared
To walk through
The back door, back door
With my head in my hands
'Cause I can find you somehow

I love this song, it may be favorite from the new album. It is so catchy and the lyrics are amazing.
I can really relate to the chorus lyrics.
I was talking to Janice Walter (the lead guitarist Brendan's mom) she says this was the song Shane wrote right after Dana died.
Yeah this seems about Dana, along with the the parts, "If I know I got a ticket to the other side" and If I'm ever gonna meet you / On the other side". The "other side" can mean heaven or something.
But very good song and album.

Dana was Shane's girlfriend who passed away while the band was on tour in like 2006.

I really like this song. It makes me sad now that I read these comments and figure out what this song is about. I didn't realize that his girlfriend had passed away. This song sounds like he tries to hide how sad and depressed he is. He is usually this strong guy, and he just doesn't know how to deal with this very deep sadness. I have two favorite lines in the song, and I think both of them show his strength that he usually has, and how broken he is now. 'And now that I feel all the weight on my shoulders, I fall.' And 'I'll find my own way home, you know I'll be fine.' Those are my favorites. So sad knowing how lonely he is and will be until they meet again. Such a beautiful song, though.
