They Gave You a Heart, They Gave You a Name Lyrics
They gave you a heart
They gave you a name
Released to the wild
With no one to tame
You need a place to disappear
That's why you're here
Escapeless dreams
I keep climbing off the floor
(They gave you a heart)
Lay down beside me
(They gave you a name)
They've been knocking at your door
(They gave you a heart)
Lay down beside me
(They gave you a name)
Lay down beside me
Lay down beside me
They gave you a heart
They gave you a name
Released to the wild
With no one to tame
You need a shape for your fear
Thats why you're here
Escapeless dreams
I keep climbing off the floor
(They gave you a heart)
Lay down beside me
(They gave you a name)
They've been knocking at your door
(They gave you a heart)
Lay down beside me
(They gave you a name)
Lay down beside me
Lay down beside me
Lay down beside me
They gave you a name
Released to the wild
With no one to tame
You need a place to disappear
That's why you're here
Escapeless dreams
I keep climbing off the floor
(They gave you a heart)
Lay down beside me
(They gave you a name)
They've been knocking at your door
(They gave you a heart)
Lay down beside me
(They gave you a name)
Lay down beside me
Lay down beside me
They gave you a name
Released to the wild
With no one to tame
You need a shape for your fear
Thats why you're here
Escapeless dreams
I keep climbing off the floor
(They gave you a heart)
Lay down beside me
(They gave you a name)

I agree with studiokill, and hen i heard all this Velocifero songs, i was having some trouble at home, i wanted to leave and stuff, maybe because of that i use to understand most songs at my own way, for example runaway i thinked about it like me leaving home, this is about the parents, and im not scared maybe when coming back home, i'm not saying those are the actual meanings, but for me they had that meanings!
I haven't the faintest idea what this song is about but it's nice sounding.
Anyone? I would love to see a coherent interpretation!
It's actually:
"Stateless genes that keep climing off the floor"
& i know this is extremely minor... but it's:
"lay down besides me"
:D
p.s. I'm 100% sure about that ^
:)
i think this song is about your parents giving you your heart, your name, your genes and how you can't really escape from them or forget about them completely no matter how much you want to because you share the same genes, they made you
I figured this was about parents too
About someone without a country identity who wanders around, only to fall down again. (Stateless genes that keep climbing off the floor)About love as a form of isolation from the real world. (The recurrent "lay down beside me" lines) and some imminent danger caused by this attitude (they been knocking at your door)... i think.
The () is my interpreation
They gave you a heart They gave you a name (They influenced you and shaped you)
Released to the wild With no one to tame (And then let you out in the world within a shape they created for you)
You need a place to disappear That's why you're here (You disappear as soon as you live the life they created for you)
Escapeless dreams (And your dream about discover yourself, becomes far away from you ´cause you’re wrapped up living the life they created)
I keep climbing off the floor (Your true self is “climbing” beneath you wishing that you’d lay down and embrace it)
<They gave you a heart> Lay down beside me (Your true self wants you to lay down so you can embrace yourself)
<They gave you a name> They've been knocking at your door (Your true self is trying to force you to embrace yourself, by “disturbing” you)
<They gave you a heart> Lay down beside me <They gave you a name> Lay down beside me Lay down beside me (Your true self wants you to lay down so you can embrace yourself)
They gave you a heart They gave you a name (They influenced you and shaped you)
Released to the wild With no one to tame (And then let you out in the world within a shape they created for you)
You need a shape for your fear (You need to explore what you fear, or else you’re end up in self destruction, ´cause what you fear, is really you)
That’s why you're here Escapeless dreams I keep climbing off the floor (Your true self is “climbing” beneath you so you can lay down and embrace it)
<They gave you a heart> Lay down beside me <They gave you a name> They've been knocking at your door <They gave you a heart> Lay down beside me <They gave you a name> Lay down beside me Lay down beside me Lay down beside me (Your true self is begging you to become apart of it)
My interpretation; It’s like the root of yourself is taken away from you under bad conditions, and you live the life the others created for you, and you let yourself be a lying corpse, because of the insecurity to let go of what they created for you

Oy... you people are totally meshugena! The actual lyrics are "Stateless Jews" which would fit with the theme of this song which is "identity"
