Paris Is Burning Lyrics
All of the boys and the girls here, in Paris.
Sing to the night without sight, but with madness.
I can't keep up, I'm a wreck, but I want it.
Tell me the truth, is it love or just Paris?
My heart is yearning, but Paris is burning.
Paris is burning all night long.
My heart is dreaming, but Paris is screaming.
Paris is screaming all night long.
Kids in the street drinking wine, on the sidewalk.
Saving the plans that we made, 'till its night time.
Give me your glass, its your last, you're too wasted.
Or get me one too, 'cause I'm due any tasting.
I've lost my way, its hard to find it through.
I see the night, but im lost outside of you.
I've lost my way, its hard to find it through.
I see the night, but im lost outside of you.
Sing to the night without sight, but with madness.
I can't keep up, I'm a wreck, but I want it.
Tell me the truth, is it love or just Paris?
Paris is burning all night long.
My heart is dreaming, but Paris is screaming.
Paris is screaming all night long.
Saving the plans that we made, 'till its night time.
Give me your glass, its your last, you're too wasted.
Or get me one too, 'cause I'm due any tasting.
I see the night, but im lost outside of you.
I've lost my way, its hard to find it through.
I see the night, but im lost outside of you.

The phrase, "Paris is burning" comes from when Hitler asked one of his military men "is Paris burning?" to find out whether or not they had conquered Paris. Paris burning can then be taken to mean war.
The line in which she asks "is it love or just Paris?" is probably one of the most important lines in this song. Paris, "screaming" with "madness", is her mind, in which a war is being waged. She's confused and struggling. Therefore, "is it love or just Paris?" translates to "is it love or just desperation?"
"My heart is yearning, but Paris is burning" = "my heart is yearning but I'm also scared"
She's not sure whether what she's feeling is real or if it's just circumstantial. Pretty nice metaphor I think--it's a well written song.
As for the interviews in which she talked about "one crazy weekend that she had in Paris where she got way too wasted and just partied the entire time", I have not seen them, but I don't think she means to say that is what this song is about. If anything, it was just her inspiration for writing the song this way. (Besides, I've noticed artists sometimes lie about what their songs really mean. Who wants to harsh the vibe by telling the serious truth to the camera and interviewer?)
that's an interesting analysis. I didn't realize that the song was so deep, makes me love it even more.

I'm pretty sure she says:
"I've lost my way, its hard to find you through. I see the night, but I lost all sight of you."
paris is corrupt
I wonder if it's actaully talking about Paris or simply being somewhere in general.
I love the song...
I'm not complete sure what it means but More or less it's gotta be about Going out with friends, getting drinks, getting lost in a city, finding lust etc...
for me it's just being out parying then the aftermath7 I've lost my way, its hard to it through/ I see the night, but i'm lost outside of you7
The whole meaning I'm not completely sure :/
She's said in a couple of interviews that the song is about one crazy weekend that she had in Paris where she got way too wasted and just partied the entire time. You can watch the interviews on youtube, pretty much all of them mention the meaning of the song.
It's about a weekend in Paris she had when she was visiting French Artist Soko.
Yeah, this is about partying with Soko over the weekend. It's in the latest issue of Nylon.
