Apocalyptic Friend Lyrics

My dear apocalyptic friend
Convinced the world will shortly end
I only want to hold you in my arms
And whisper softly that it’s alright
If God decides to kill the lights
And back to stardust we return again
When rapture comes I understand your car will likely be unmanned
But what about those sitting in the back
Strapped into the baby’s seat
Sweet milk sticking to their feet
Is this the joy felt waking of your heart
Is this the joy felt waking of your heart
So let the woods reclaim the farm
The lighting strikes collapse the barn
The grass has grown to just below your knees
As insects guided by the moon pray for another vacant room
And ash rains down like feathers made of smoke
And ash rains down like feathers make of smoke
My dear apocalyptic friend
Convinced the world will shortly end
I only want to hold you in my arms
And whisper softly that it’s alright
If God decides to kill the lights
And back to stardust we return again
And back to stardust we return again
And back to stardust we return again

Pretty obvious what this song is about. It's absolutely great though. I love the reference to humans being created from stardust. My dad used to tell me that when I was a kid. What does he mean with those strapped into the baby seat in the back and sweet milk sticking to their feet? Maybe a reference to people ignorant of the apocalypse itself? Or helpless to escape?
