Wake Up America Lyrics
Oh, can you take care of her
Oh, maybe you can spare her
Several moments of your consideration
Leading up to the final destination
Oh, the Earth is calling out
I wanna know what it's all about
But everything I read is global warming, going green
I don't know what all this means
But it seems to be saying
Wake up America
We're all in this together
It's our home, so let's take care of it
You know that you want to, you know that you've got to
Wake up America
Tomorrow becomes a new day
And everything you do matters
Yeah, everything you do matters in some way
Stand up, I'll try if you will
Wake up, it's not a fire drill
All she needs is a little attention
Can you give her just a little attention
Oh, it's easy to look away
But it's getting harder day by day
Everything I read is global warming, going green
I don't know what all this means
But it seems to be saying
Come on!
Wake up America
We're all in this together
It's our home, so let's take care of it
You know that you want to, you know that you've got to
Wake up America
Tomorrow becomes a new day
And everything you do matters
Yeah, everything you do matters in some way
I know that you don't wanna hear it
Especially coming from someone so young
But in the backseat, yeah they wanna hear it
(Yeah they wanna hear it)
So come on, turn it up
So come on, turn it up
So come on, turn it up
Wake up America
We're all in this together
It's our home, so let's take care of it
You know that you want to, you know that you've got to
Wake up America

i agree with geeksneedlove! some of you people are just so infuriating. Omg she wants to sing a song about something political and that actually has meaning rather than more about Nick Jonas. Look at her her main audience is, 9-14 yr old girls. this is a demographic that like miley says hears all about global warming and going green, but i'd lay bets that 90% of them don't really know what it all means (i'm not saying that you don't know what global warming is etc. what i'm saying is that hear here these buzz words and you know the gist of what it's about, but you don't know it all, in fact most adults wouldn't really know what it all means) Miley's telling her fans that just because we're young doesn't mean that their voice doesn't count, the powers that be may not like a kid telling them they need to actually do something for once, and may belittle them because of their age, but their voice counts just as much, and these are issues they should have a say in.
I actually really respect miley for putting it on her cd. It's not as pop as her other stuff, it doesn't really fit in with most of the other songs, and it may not market that well, but it's a message she obviously wants to get out to her fans and the powers that be, and she felt it was important to have it on her cd. (or her dad thought it would help not pigeon hole her, either way it gets it out there) And as someone who's 9 yr old sisters fav song is 'i kissed a girl' i'm glad she has 1 role model singing about something that matters.
And ye don't bag her out for it sounding like it was written by 15 yr old, most of her 'Miley' songs are written by a 15 yr old (her). She doesn't have experience writing this sort of song of course its gonna be less polished.
i think this song is a good way to show the youth that the earth needs help gettin better. but i do agree that there are alot of songs for hthis kiind of thing, but if you dont like it, dont listen to it :)
I like this song.. I can agree on its pretty simple written, but then again she was 15 when she wrote it, and it is for people at the same age... Should she be singing about gas prices, or polution from factories, that would be stupid, since none of her audience can do nothing about that..
And btw, (fhcxc2010) what the hell do you know about "most parents don't let their kids listen to her"? If I'm not mistaken her popularity, earnings, sold albums, tickets etc. haven't declined a bit.. So I really don't think her pictures or who she is dating really is effecten her in the fan section.. For every fan that slips away, two new come a long.. :)
i don't think i'm gonna like this song ewh. america? lmao no.
It's just more like something her Hannah persona would sing.
^ yeah i agree it doesn't go on this cd lol i don't like it. i like the vocals and stuff but let's face it, we don't need anymore songs about america; it's not changing anything. CLEARLY.
I agree with both of yall! lol
This song isent gonna fill up the gas in my car. I hate America right now..we really dont need anymore songs about america. i agree with yall haha
this song offends me in so many ways.
it's people like you all that these songs are made. some people are just so selfish they don't care one bit about anything but what makes them happy. and to dislike a song before you ever even hear it because of the lyrics... totally lame. personally this is my fav. song on the cd. vocals, lyrics, music and all. if the song makes a difference to just a couple people then it's a success.
