City On The Edge Of Forever Lyrics

See the stars from a million places
Porcelain skin puts our faces entwined in time
Never lost my way for you
Felt it all around me

Never gonna stop, never stop anything at all
Repeat all that we do
Let's start from the beginning

The times we've lost can be repaired
So be prepared
The moments we burned into our minds
Yeah we'll be fine

We say our goodbyes
Let's bring it tonight
The story's building as we live on through this night
Representation to approve the words we bind
The city never pulls through once we all are doomed

Never gonna stop, never stop anything at all
Remember what we do
Re-live the lives we put in the sky

The times we've lost can be repaired
So be prepared
The moments we burned into our minds
Yeah we'll be fine

First comment... Really? Sweet! This song is great. It mainly describes his thoughts or imagination of what could have been between him and someone else "Never lost my way with you, felt it all around me". But despite the seperate paths they took he's saying let's take it from here and make up for lost time.

It's about Final Fantasy 10. Tidus (main character) and Zanarkand (his hometown) and his love for Yuna. Now the explanation would create spoilers for the game, but that's basically the key point to this song.

it is not about final fantasy 10. it took influence from final fantasy to tell a story that other people relate to.

Jag's vocal range is just so awesome. I've never played any FF games, so I take this as a real-life meaning, haha.

well, i gotta both agree with dodgerguy89 and Jamalteikorexo .. it is about FFX but if you take it broadly, it is also about the imagination what come between..x] I really like to play FFX..x]

My Interpretation

I think this song is about how even if something bad happens in life, you can keep going and learn from what happened. Because there is no end in life [ until you actually DIE, but then some people believe in heaven]...

anyway, every end is a beginning, so maybe if your best friend dies, you feel like it's the end of everything, but it's not. It's a new beginning

and there's always a new city on the edge of that forever. :D and the night means all of life, until the end of the world. :D

Well, considering this whole album is inspired by Final Fantasy, my interpretation is this has more to do with FF7 than FFX. Having to do with POSSIBLE SPOILER the gaps in Cloud's memory END POSSIBLE SPOILER with the "city on the edge of forever" being Midgar.

Just my hunch, though.

My Interpretation

Hate for the double-post, BUT I just found another possible explanation that has nothing to do with FF, but Star Trek.

There was an episode with the title "City on the Edge of Forever". :) Sound familiar.

I'll spare you the spoilers this time, but it WAS an episode of importance.

im new to this site, ive liked ASD for a while now, but never really researched them too much, there does seem to be a lot of similarity between FFX and them, but to ME this song means something else to me. for example, first verse See the stars from a million places Porcelain skin puts our faces entwined in time Never lost my way for you Felt it all around me that has got to mean that this guy is remembering a past lover after leaving to a different place but saying that he will never forget. also i think hes saying that he will come back, "The times we've lost can be repaired, So be prepared" and then probably saying just keeps the memories we have, "yeah we'll be fine" i dunno, but thats kinda what i got out of it
